We’re reminding Calgarians to slow down & drive safe, no matter the weather or road conditions. 📍 Early this morning, our members responded to reports of a 16-year-old motorcyclist who was believed to be travelling at a speed of 200 km/hr in the 9500 block of Crowchild Trail N.W. The rider lost control when passing a vehicle on the shoulder, ultimately striking the vehicle before striking a bridge. Thankfully the injuries sustained by the rider were not life-threatening or life-altering. He was transported to hospital in serious condition. ⚠️ So far this year, there’s been a total of 14 fatal collisions on Calgary roads, including four pedestrian fatalities. Speed drastically increases the possibility of serious, life-altering, life-threatening injuries or death. 🗣️ Road safety is everyone’s responsibility. Philadelphia NEW VIDEO of a fatal auto vs motorcycle collision yesterday (05/28/24) at 100 E Hunting Park Ave The vehicle was a stolen Kia being operated by a 17 year old male offender. Sources tell us the driver of the stolen vehicle was on house arrest and wearing an ankle monitor for prior criminal offenses. There were 4 other juvenile offenders in the vehicle at the time of the collision. Police have all 5 juvenile offenders in custody. The operator of the motorcycle, identified as 55-year-old Wilberto Casillas of Philadelphia, was pronounced dead at the scene by medics at 8:18 p.m

On the morning of January 11, 2026, Lakewood Police agents heading to an active call discovered a potentially life-threatening situation at the intersection of Wadsworth and Alameda. Agents found a truck stopped in the roadway with the driver asleep at the wheel. While the driver’s foot remained on the brake, the risk of the vehicle rolling into cross-traffic or a pedestrian was extreme. Upon further investigation, the driver was arrested for DUI. This marks the individual's second DUI offense. Driving under the influence isn't just a personal choice; it is a direct threat to everyone sharing the road. Pedestrian Killed In Hit & Run - Public Assistance Needed On Sunday, December 22, 2024, at approximately 6:40p.m., Police Department officers responded to the scene of a fatal traffic collision at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Chelsea Avenue. The victim was crossing Wilshire southbound when she was struck by a vehicle heading eastbound on Wilshire. The vehicle, a white Toyota Rav4 (photo attached), was seen by witnesses fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. Tragically, the victim, a Vietnam War veteran and Santa Monica resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene. SMPD’s Major Accident Response Team responded to begin their investigation, which is ongoing. Investigators have located video footage of the suspect and vehicle. We are asking for the public’s help in identifying this person. The incident remains under investigation. As friends and family are grieving an unimaginable loss of a loved one, our detectives are working tirelessly to identify and arrest those responsible.
