I am a long time motorcyclist (50 years). I am appalled at the speeds driven by motorcyclists both on the freeways and surface streets. While I drive over the speed limit from time to time, the speeds I am seeing are 90+. These drivers are organ transplant providers.

The collision resulted in severe injuries to the motorcyclist, who is now in critical condition. The family has submitted a complaint to the Thrissur Rural Superintendent of Police, seeking further investigation into the matter. A woman who was travelling with Rijas reportedly informed the family about the argument that took place before the crash. His father also claimed that police found the occupants of the vehicle to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Dashcam footage and CCTV visuals of the collision have surfaced, and police are examining the footage as part of the investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed the family's allegations, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to Rijas' death.

The bike appeared to launch into the air at the light after colliding with the front end of a BMW in an intersection. This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. On January 31, 2026, at approximately 5:51 a.m., LVMPD SWAT officers served a search warrant at a home on Sugar Springs Drive in northeast Las Vegas. The warrant was based on information indicating a biological laboratory may have been inside the residence. At the same time, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted a search at a nearby home on Temple View Drive. No threat was found at that location. Inside the Sugar Springs Drive residence, investigators located evidence of possible biological material, including refrigerators containing vials with unknown liquids. LVMPD’s All-Hazard Regional Multi-agency Operations and Response (ARMOR) Section is working closely with the FBI, local fire departments, and other partners to ensure the safe recovery and mitigation of these items. This remains a complex, multi-agency investigation involving numerous specialized resources. The ongoing first responder presence in the area over the past several days is part of a slow, methodical process by design. These situations are handled with extreme caution to ensure the safety of both personnel and the community. FBI Special Agent in Charge Chris Delzotto emphasized the FBI’s role in supporting state and local partners through specialized laboratory, evidence response, scientific analysis, and technical hazards resources.
