Only 3 days! Wow! I love to be in a small compartment for 3 straight days!

AI got a little confused around the Rockies eh? Or did you steal the wrong video?

Get sleeper room w pvt bath. Sunrise in bed, meals included. Dining car is communal. Witness the Hudson RivValley, 4hr Chi layover get pizza, walk river. Wide open plains, Rocky Mtns, Utah canyons, Lake Tahoe, Sierras, Golden Gate. Enjoy SF & Bay Area. America is beautiful.

$3-4000 for a somewhat comfortable ride

I moved from Montreal to San Francisco in May if anyone doesn’t know, Montreal is in Canada just on top of New York I was considering doing this but price and how you sleep stopped me If you have the money go ahead but I was looking at around $3000 to do that journey so I flew

The train does not go through Wyoming.

The cost is insane

Why does it rain the entire trip?

It mentions Glenwood Canyon, Colorado but in the illustration the train goes through Wyoming about 100 miles north.

I'd "let the train take the strain" as BR used to say

It would surely be so expensive then airplanes. Can you give me a brief comparison?

🚂🚃🚃🚃

Does Amtrak have Starlink? NYC to Quebec City could also be enjoyable.

I’m just concerned about who else is boarding. Do they check and verify any forms of ID?

😍😍😍

Who wants to go to New York or California?

SYRACUSE MENTIONED

On Long haul trips always get the sleeper car glad I did.

Amtrak is expensive for just the gross coach seats. This would be hell on earth for me. I’d just drive myself. Oh, wait, I’ve done just that. Except it was in December and got stuck in BFE MN due to a blizzard.

@grok which is more affordable, an airline ticket or a train ticket?

A little boring, sorry.

Is that still with Amtrak? Cool 😎 way to have an adventure and sightsee. 💖✨

Fly

I did this trip back in 1988. East coast (NY to LA, via the southern route(SouthWest Chief), then LA to SF). Stayed a week in SF taking pictures (35mm). Then took the 'mirror image' back from SF to NY via Colorado & 'higher plains'. I still have those 35mm slides.
