A “Sophie Night” rally is taking place today outside Target Center in Minneapolis in support of Sophie Cunningham and the protection of women’s sports and private spaces. Organized by XX-XY Athletics founder Jennifer Sey, the gathering follows similar events in Seattle and Portland after Cunningham spoke out about keeping biological males out of female categories and locker rooms. Reeve stated: “It is not the case that we have ‘biological men’ in girls’ locker rooms. The way it’s being phrased, the innuendo there that transgender women are predators of some kind in the locker room… There’s a lot of narrative that is problematic.” (Video: AI) That claim is false. There are documented cases of biological males entering women’s locker rooms, showers, and changing areas — including incidents involving crimes. Women have a fundamental right to privacy and single-sex spaces. This is not a complicated or “nuanced” issue. A coach of a women’s professional team should not deny the reality of males in female private spaces. She should champion denying males access to female private spaces.
