WHO considers there to be a high risk of spread of this strain within Gaza, and internationally, particularly given the impact the current situation continues to have on public health services. The absolutely farcical inability of WHO to use the word AIRBORNE in discussions about the mode of transmission and appropriate precautions for healthcare workers continues on from COVID-19 in their Hanta virus fact sheets .….. …..public messaging is led once again by epidemiologist Maria who now uses the vague and unhelpful term “close contact” that does not clarify the mode or the science of transmission. A commonsense question about what “close contact” means from the reporter in the clip below tries to get clarification but Maria will not, or cannot, answer the question. A question so vital for knowing what situations are likely to put you at risk and what is necessary to stay safe. Reporter: “When you say close contact …could you perhaps specify what you mean by that exactly……what does close contact mean? Does that mean people who have been in physical contact ….within the same room….and just a little bit of detail on how therefore it would spread…. because how here is quite important to understand…” We need more than epidemiological terms that fail to enlighten us on the basic science of “how” a pathogen spreads from one person to another. Today, we are pleased to share encouraging news regarding our response to the Ebola outbreak in AFC/M23/Twirwaneho-administered areas. Following weeks of coordinated surveillance, case management, contact tracing, laboratory testing, and community engagement, we are pleased to announce that all identified contacts have successfully completed their follow-up period. Over the course of the response, more than 400 contacts were monitored with a daily follow-up completion rate exceeding 98 percent. Throughout this intensive surveillance period, no additional Ebola cases were detected among those under follow-up. At this time, there are no confirmed Ebola patients receiving treatment and no contacts currently under active monitoring within our jurisdiction. This marks the successful containment of the first wave of the outbreak in the areas under our administration. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and sacrifice of our frontline healthcare workers, surveillance teams, laboratory personnel, community health volunteers, local leaders, and all those who worked tirelessly under challenging circumstances to protect our communities. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our humanitarian and technical partners whose expertise, logistical support, and collaboration were essential to this successful response. A key lesson from this response has been the importance of people-centered interventions. Through sustained door-to-door community engagement, health education, and close collaboration with local communities, we strengthened public trust, encouraged early reporting of suspected cases, and promoted adherence to public health measures. These efforts were instrumental in successfully containing the outbreak. Today's announcement should not be interpreted as the end of the Ebola threat. The final report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into COVID-19 Lessons Learned was handed down last week. Although the report included substantial criticism of New Zealand's mistakes in its response, it did not give them prominence. Instead, the report focused only on process errors - specifically process rather than medical errors - especially advice failing to reach decision-makers and the repeated failure of politicians to follow the advice they did receive. It turns out they were not following the science after all. Specific criticisms of the response included youth vaccine mandates for 12 to 17 year olds. On 9 December 2021, the COVID-19 vaccine technical advisory group gave clear advice to the government that the risks of COVID-19 transmission among under 18's were "insufficient to justify mandating a two-dose schedule" and that it may “add unnecessary risk of myocarditis." The politicians did it anyway. The bureaucrats who gave this advice kept their mouths shut. The former Director-General of Health, Ashley Bloomfield, was subsequently knighted and is now at the World Health Organisation running the International Health Regulations. The knighthood was obviously not for services to honesty and transparency. Furthermore, Auckland was kept under Alert Level 4 for 32 days longer than the Director-General of Health advised. These 32 days were over the Christmas period, causing massive social harm during a Christian holiday. The commission notes that this contributed to unnecessary social and economic disruption for businesses and families, which is a huge understatement. Jacinda Ardern clearly shares Prime Minister Albanese's desire to break the bonds of family, community, and Christianity. Finally, there was a failure to clearly communicate the risks surrounding COVID injection harms, especially myocarditis in young people, which eroded trust in both the government and the medical profession. No kidding! The evidence continues to pile up. Last week, Dr. Helmut Sterz, Pfizer's former European chief toxicologist, testified before Germany's Bundestag coronavirus inquiry commission. He stated that the carcinogenicity and mutagenicity tests for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine were never conducted, and that reproductive toxicity tests were defective. This violated standard protocols and enabled an untested mass roll-out, yet billions of dollars in sales rolled in anyway.

American experts say ostriches don’t spread bird flu — so why is Ottawa preparing to kill 400 of them? At the centre of the controversy is Universal Ostrich Farm, a family-run operation that’s now the target of a full-scale “stamping out” order by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The CFIA’s mandate is clear: kill every bird on the property, despite the fact that they’ve been virus-free for more than 260 days. Meanwhile, in the United States, scientific and industry experts are saying what Ottawa won’t: ostriches are not chickens and they shouldn’t be treated like them. The American Ostrich Association (AOA), which represents producers across the United States, recently issued a formal request to the U.S. Department of Agriculture urging an end to blanket kill orders for ostriches. In an October 2024 letter addressed to U.S. Agriculture Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., AOA President Michael Lehman argued that ostriches’ biology and immune systems make them fundamentally different from conventional poultry. “Ostriches are not conventional poultry,” the letter reads. “They do not migrate, they do not fly, and when infected, they have a high recovery rate with minimal zoonotic risk.” Lehman warned that mass culling is an “existential threat” to ostrich producers, whose birds are long-lived and slow-breeding, meaning recovery from a full cull is not just costly, it’s genetically impossible.
