Trash in India is EVERYWHERE….. ……Almost EVERYWHERE. India has a trash problem, it’s everywhere! Why? But…..there’s no trash on “that side of the fence”. Indians clean the front of their homes everyday. Sweeping and washing, it’s a ceremony, and yet just over there is …..trash. India is full of... show more

Agreed and it’s mostly lack of civic sense, which should start mostly in schools as the parents don’t have it. It pains my heart to see the country like this.

A learning curve.

Thank you for trying good sir, I think it is a mentality problem, can you tell me why would any other country would not do this?

I’m still trying to figure it out. Other countries DO this as well, but not at the scale of India. It’s the transition from old life to the modern world. It will take time.

India should solve this problem. One civic movement may be required. It should start from schools

If every Indian simply spent 1 minute each picking up a piece of trash…..the country would be free of trash. But then where does it go? Less plastic is the answer.

True. Plastic should be avoided. Plastic usage increased in India last 20 years.

Single use plastic should be banner in India. No other way out. As a bonus, it will lead to a healthier nation as well.

Agreed. And…..knowledge. Those two together works. I know from experience.

Plastics suddenly mass spawned between 2000-2005 Before that there were paper bags and glass bottles

……And before that coconuts and banana leaves.

We are ashamed 😔

Turn that shame to action. One small step at a time.

India's garbage/trash problem is caste problem. Here majority thinks they have the right to produce garbage&litter and some born to clean that.Untill this system is removed we won't have clean society For every citizen mandatory civics duty should be imposed Everyone has to clean

Its a i dont care mindset .. also if others care .. i will pull them down mindset .. we dont want to learn that is useful to us and dont tell us what to do

Go back drrty poopeater 🐖

🤢🤮

Disgus.... hill billy 🐖

I think the bigger issue is not that people don’t know the right behaviour-it’s that they don’t always feel responsible for public spaces. The same people who use dustbins at airports, stand in queues, & follow rules abroad often do the same in India.

I like ur take here. But Indians lack civic sense, myself included. While I don't throw away waste, don't directly pollute water bodies or drive on thw wrong side, I do honk and do other Indian stuff like crazy overtaking.

Best analysis of this phenomenon.. Agree totally

Yes sir I say this to my mom and others often, as much as we try to clean our house of we put only 10% efforts to clean our Roads and streets it will be cleanest country but people here just don't think that that road and street outside is also their place only and also it's civic sense problem many have never been taught that trash should be in trash bin not on roads and streets

True and painful to read as an Indian Front of the house gets swept daily corner plot becomes a dump We need DUSTBINS every 200 meters and strict fines Otherwise nothing changes !!!

Thank you for trying, kind sir, but no, this is not because Indians habituated to throwing away natural materials that melted away. It's because we are habituated to someone else being responsible for cleaning up after us.

We have to confront ourselves as a society about this…few cities have already shown the way…Indore is one example- they have shown the way. Lucknow I believe is getting better…and many cities…we should solve this once and for all in next few years..

single use plastic was the last straw for the non existent indian trash management system

Now the Indians will come to attack you for speaking the truth.

from next time dnt come to india stay where you are and have fun you guys come to india on a visit visa search and upload things and cry why dont you look at your own country first

I mean, are people blind - can't they see the problem with their own 2 eyes? It seems the population is sleep walking their entire lives. Disgusting.

Thats because constitution took away the rights and duties of communities to manage communal areas and made it the job of the municipality, which doesnt care enough . Even today u can see the village is very clean because of social control and a sense of ownership.

Had to be said. The only problem with Insia is the trash problem.

We need to start taking responsibility, everyone blames the govt for not picking up the trash, but don't ask who threw it.

True. Even in west indians are throwing trash. Indian family in moving van threw trash at me in US and laughed about it.

plastic exposed indians

Our schools should reach moral science and civic sense to children

I live in the west and get peed off when I see a tiny foil or paper on the road near my house of on the road, I make sure the council sends the big road sweeping machine or the litter pickers to keep everything clean, it’s horrible to see so much disposed garbage.

Ok this is exactly the problem!!!! Tax on plastic was not invested back on plastic infra/disposal.

True

A person who doesn't know that india is vast and habit varies.
