TREMORS (1990) is basically a masterclass disguised as a creature feature. The pacing is immaculate, the rules of the Graboid world are established early & the practical effects still hold up beautifully. Just an absurdly well-made monster movie.

The tragedy of The Thing (2011) is that the production built incredible practical creature effects… and the studio later covered many of them with CGI in post. The result ended up looking far worse than the original practical work ever did.
