What Ed was talking about was correct. Fatigue will keep a person from bracing correctly for a hit. To explain. When the head whips violently from 1 side to the other, the brain slams into the skull. He was saying the guardian cap is useless in this situation. Such as getting slammed backwards and the head bouncing off the turf. A strong, fresh neck resists this. By firmly tucking the head against the chest. That's not what he said that would upset the NFL the most. He talked about the general lack of intelligence of players compared to the past. Some offenses are very "simplified" with no reading of the defense required. Just go through the simple progression. A TB or PM knows who's going to be open and skips that paint by numbers QB stuff. The league knows this is true. They've made the rules even easier for the offense and harder on the defense to try and keep scoring up. It's not just QBs that aren't as smart. Reed is right. Any player that thinks that guardian cap is going to stop a concussion isn’t too bright. In fact, it will likely lead to more head injuries with the extra weight. This is just a get rich product using fear. I’ve never seen an injury and thought “If only that guy had a swim cap on”
