Since we’re entering “Laser Season”, this week we’ll compile a list of actual lasers that ARE safe to use & highlight what concerns they address.. Anyone properly trained on lasers is always taught what wavelengths are safe & if they aren’t sure, they’re advised to test a SMALL unnoticeable area just to be sure. This provider continued treatment despite the patient advising that she was feeling uncomfortable. Either she didn’t understand that she was burning the patient or she intentionally ignored it believing they’d go away. This was grossly negligent on the provider’s part!

If you range from anywhere between Fitzpatrick 3-6, Has the feared of being burned held you back from exploring laser treatments?

That’s so sad 😢 I’m glad she’s recovering but the tech should know this and have lasers on hand that are safe for darker skin. I know @LutronicUSA has some

@LutronicUSA Exactly and if you don’t have one, don’t suggest something just because you have it!

This is so unfortunate!!! The right laser can make such a difference but a laser in the wrong provider’s hands can be so dangerous! We do our best to educate our providers as much as possible & continue to make lasers that are safe for ALL skin tones. We’d love to help treat her in LA.
