After a few more hours, I think I've figured out Opus 5. Opus 5 is trained to be more agentic than anything I've used. All Claude 5 models are like that. So what changes? The way to interact with Opus 5 or contextualize it won't work the same way as with other models. It loves exploring, so it doesn't need much guidance for it. Unique preferences, artifacts, and references compliment it well and enable cleaner and more effective exploration and execution. Now that it can explore more effectively on its own and understand intent better, the best thing to do is to get out of its way (e.g., it doesn't need examples of your preferences; a clear high-level description of it works best). It's truly agentic in that sense. A good first step to provide better context for Opus 5 is to distinguish between what's situational and what needs persistence. Regardless, persistent system prompts and CLAUDE.MD needs to stay lightweight. Remove memories and tool descriptions from these. CLAUDE.MD is also a great place to tap into progressive disclosure by linking command/skills to it. On the situational side, agent skills and auto-memory can leverage progressive disclosure and the improved ability of the model to use its external context/knowledge. Conflicting and unnecessary instructions, which are common at this layer (mainly to ensure reliability), are going to throw off this model easily. That's the biggest change I had to make. Simple, clean, and clear prompts and skills work best. I had to clean a lot of my skills and system prompts. The way I prompt remains the same (usually clear and well-scoped). MCP tool descriptions are also more descriptive and have been deduped from the system prompt. Anthropic released a guide on the new rules for context engineering, which was helpful here. I started to test the recommendations and created a little artifact with the things that worked along the way. This might feel like a lot of work. Believe me, it has been frustrating. But I think we can expect future frontier models to become more agentic and smarter at figuring out the right context/gaps. The best thing to do is to prepare for that now. Boris Cherny mentioned that Opus 5 is their least prompt-injectable model yet. I am not sure if that was something they intentionally trained for or if it emerged based on how it was trained, which is to be extremely agentic in nature and more direct in execution.

My ordinary grocery "Meat Markdown" hunt was delayed by a Pharmacist as I walked into the store. He was standing at a display table & announced, "If you schedule 2+vaccines for the same visit we are giving a dozen doughnuts for free as a thank you for getting your preventive shots." He handed me a list of available vaccines while he held a clip board with a signup sheet. He was offering: Covid/Flu Shingles Pneumonia Hepatitis A & B RSV Tdap Meningitis HiB HPV Tetanus When I replied thank you, but no thank you..... He smiled & nodded, then said if I transferred my Prescriptions, I could get the dozen doughnuts as a thank you also. I took a deep breath & smiled. I thanked him again & said, " I don't have any Prescriptions to transfer." He said, "we can call your Dr & have them transferred." Still smiling....I said, "There's none to transfer sir." He appeared puzzled & clarified, "you're not on any meds? Can I ask how old you are?" I shared, "I used to take more than 15 Medications, but I've healed those conditions. And of course you can ask, I am 54." He hesitated a few seconds & finally said, "I've never met anyone our age on no Meds, I'm on 5." Smiling I said, "Glad I am your first & I hope I'm not your last." "Meds only caused side effects for me, never healed anything." I went on to the Meat Dept & I heard him start his "free doughnuts for vaccines" speech again with the next customer coming through the entrance.

The "Neoclouds are too scared of Jensen to offer TPUs!" tweet reminded me of this quote from the Odd Lots episode with Hudson River Trading's Head of AI: "If you're using TPUs, you're also kind of entering a very close relationship with Google, some feeling of vendor lock in.. It's a complicated thing if you go down that path. But if you're compute hungry like the big labs, you'll take what you can get. I think Anthropic takes TPUs, Trainium, and GPUs, they need them all." You can also just look at the hoops and hurdles Google is going through to find external buyers of TPUs: - Invested $10B+ in Anthropic (and committed to invest $40B+) - Back-stopped Anthropic's data center leases so that Anthropic's data center developers can obtain financing to house the TPU's Anthropic is buying from Google - Created a new neocloud via a JV with Blackstone to offer TPUs (e.g. buy them from Google to rent) CoreWeave and Nebius are already sold out on the GPUs for which they have data center capacity to bring online.. Both want to diversify their customer bases away from hyperscalers and large AI labs. Anyone building things like tokenized assets, supply chains, AI agents, or prediction markets still juggle a mess of middleware, and somehow end up spending more time stitching than innovating. How so? Every: - Bridges to move assets, - oracles to fetch data, - indexers to make that data searchable, - relayers and bots to keep everything on schedule— is necessary, but each layer also adds cost, latency, and new risks. The end result is an application that’s expensive to run, fragile under stress, and slower than the Web2 software it’s trying to replace. This is the problem Rialo says it wants to solve. Built by Subzero Labs and backed by $20 million from investors like Pantera Capital and Coinbase Ventures 🛡️, Rialo’s pitch is simple: instead of accepting the middleware tower as an unavoidable cost of doing business, compress it into the base chain itself. But Rialo doesn’t describe itself as another Layer 1, its very name, Rialo Isn’t a Layer One, makes that clear. The team frames it instead as a unified real-world network: a protocol rebuilt from the ground up with the assumption that external connectivity is not an afterthought but a core design principle. To understand what this means, consider how today’s dApps are typically assembled. It is a sharp critique of how Nigeria’s foreign exchange crisis is caused not by external forces but by how we ourselves manage, manipulate, and mishandle the system. You thought it was gibberish because your ears function faster than your brain. You heard words and panicked. Second, the line is conceptually layered. In just a few words, it diagnoses the entire economic dysfunction: policy inconsistency, artificial rates, corruption in forex allocation, and institutional failure. But of course, to catch that, you would need more than ears. You would need understanding, something you have never encountered. The gestures for multitasking are identical between iPhone Duo and Surface Duo too. You drag an app to the side you want and it fills that half of the screen. Was happy to get my first look at SS Rock Arnold (OSU Cowboy Baseball) down in Jupiter. Went 1-for-2 in the game I saw him and hammered a backside RBI triple. Recently re-classed into the C/O 2026. Listed at 6'1" and 190-lbs, Arnold has a lean, athletic frame with some length in his lower-half and present strength. Stands fairly tall in the box, small leg lift gives way to a normal stride. Hands will drift and drop a bit in his load that includes a barrel tip. Present bat and hand speed, slightly uphill swing path that's geared towards lifting the baseball. There's a degree of adjustability in Arnold's swing, and he's shown the ability to drop his back knee to help create leverage. Some swing and miss, particularly against secondaries, but Arnold's swing decisions were sound and he stayed within the strike zone in my look. Has shown he can impact the baseball—especially to the pull side. Arnold's athleticism is evident both in the box and on the dirt. Flashed an above-average arm on the left side of the infield with solid carry across the diamond. Didn't display the quickest first step on the play I saw him attempt to make, though he showed comfortability attacking the baseball. Figures to get the chance to stick at shortstop. Proof of what seven days in a toxic environment did to the human body. The first clip showed my baseline. I was full of energy and breathing clearly. You could not simply "disinfect" sewage out of porous subflooring and drywall bc those materials trapped bacteria that eventually aerosolized. For an able-bodied person, that was a health risk. My Lost Soul Aside Impressions: I’m playing on the PS5 Pro in performance mode with a VRR display, and I’m very satisfied with the performance. For me, the image looks sharp and the gameplay runs very smooth with 60fps. Even during big boss fights, I haven’t noticed any significant drops. Claims that the game runs at 20fps are absolute nonsense. I wouldn’t recommend quality mode, as the missing frames per second and the input delay are a major disadvantage, especially with such fast-paced gameplay. Visually, I’d say the game looks very good, but not outstanding. Environmental details are sometimes not fully polished, and the facial animations could be better. On the other hand, the characters are incredibly detailed, which I really enjoyed. The combat animations are absolutely fantastic, and the choreographed fight cutscenes are brilliant. Boss fights are simply phenomenal and I loved every second of them. The whole experience feels like a mix of Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry. Bosses also come with certain mechanics you have to trigger, which adds depth. The soundtrack has impressed me so far, mixing rock tracks with softer melodies that really bring the fantasy world to life. However, the audio mixing between cutscenes and gameplay is sometimes off and should be fixed. The game is very linear, which I personally find refreshing and not a negative at all. The map reminds me of Final Fantasy X, with some side paths that hide chests or items. Puzzles are simple but help break things up. Larger areas are often rather empty though, and exploration can feel unrewarding when all you find is “+7 gold.” The story so far is quite predictable. I didn’t enjoy the English voice acting and switched to the Chinese original, which feels much better. I also made some adjustments to improve my experience: in the sound menu, I boosted the weapon effects and increased the music volume. In combat, I found there’s too much chatter and subtitles are distracting, so I turned them off completely. The game is challenging, and I’d definitely consider it demanding. There are no difficulty options, but if you die often enough, you’ll get amulets that make the gameplay noticeably easier. Now, onto the clear highlight of the game: the combat system. My goodness, it’s amazing. The chaining of attacks and overall complexity are simply brilliant. It’s an endless fireworks display of effects, and for me the wait was truly worth it. At first, combat might seem simple, but as you progress you unlock new weapons with their own skill trees, special attacks that can be upgraded, new combo actions, and the ability to switch weapons instantly in battle to chain them into even more combos. Different weapons can also interact with the environment and trigger special effects. It’s just genius. Another fantastic feature is weapon customization. You can freely change the appearance of your weapons, as every weapon can take on the look of another. You can also adjust details in real time, resize parts, reposition them, and all changes are applied instantly without requiring resources. Even better, these customizations carry over into cutscenes. When you move to the next level, the camera zooms out and shows your characters in a charming overworld view, similar to Expedition 33. A really nice touch. So far, I’ve been enjoying the game immensely, and I simply couldn’t put it down. If you’re expecting a combo-based combat system, you definitely won’t be disappointed in my opinion. The linear level design felt incredibly refreshing, and it genuinely transported me back to the PS2 era, always leaving me with a warm feeling in my heart.

I never thought I would become part of this “salon racism trend,” that’s going around social media…nor did I ever WANT to ever become a part of this trend. Yesterday, my daughter and I attempted to go get our nails done. We walked into the nail salon, someone was being helped at the counter to be checked out, & someone was sitting on a chair by the door, or were just waiting on someone else to finish getting their nails done, (as though they’d already been assisted, but hadn’t had their service completed yet). My daughter simply asked how long the wait was for 2 full-sets and one pedicure…she was told it would be 15 minutes. We did this BEFORE we sat down. The woman in the chair IMMEDIATELY said, “I know you see me sitting here…how you gonna just walk in & jump right in front of me?” To which I responded, “you’ll be alright.” She then shot straight up, began to cause a scene, she stomped to the back of the salon…the whole time she was going on about how she wasn’t going to stay and wait to have her nails done. She was being rude and disrespectful, but I wasn’t even fully aware of what was occurring. You see…when a normal person goes to a salon & would like to receive services…you go up to the counter to see how long the wait is (like my daughter and I did when we entered). You don’t walk in & sit in one of the chairs, expecting for people to drop what they are doing to attend to your every need. If there is a line, you get up off your ass, & get in the line…otherwise it just appears that you are not a paying customer…waiting for a paid service, yourself, it appears that you are just sitting there, waiting on someone else to finish getting the mani-pedi that they have paid for. Then again, a “normal person” wouldn’t have completely lost their mind simply because we asked how long the wait was, before we sat down…because we asked in the way a normal person does. A normal person would have calmly stated, “Excuse me, but I have been waiting.” It was clear that she was there prior to us entering the salon, so it wouldn’t have been a problem at all. However, this individual chose to act like a wildebeest. She took off…straight to the back of the salon, in order to get her friend…whose nails weren’t even completely done, because she was now refusing to get her nails done here. All because we walked in and asked how long the wait was. That was it. I’ve seen stories of people being racist like this on social media, but I have never actually encountered this in real life, & I never expected to receive this type of treatment in real life…especially in small-town, USA…yet, here we are. A grown-ass black woman, stomping out of a nail salon, while exclaiming that we “make her ass itch,” (eww, girl) and then accused us of other things (in the presence of my infant grandson, no less). To which my daughter did respond, “nope, I wasn’t,” because after everything that she just did…after the huge scene that she just caused…why should we be expected to say absolutely nothing? This racist display left my daughter so upset that she didn’t even want to get her nails done. This is not the country that I grew up in any longer. 😢😢

The Capuchin Crypt, a small space comprising several tiny chapels located beneath the church of Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini on the Via Veneto near Piazza Barberini in Rome, Italy. It contains the skeletal remains of 3,700 bodies believed to be Capuchin friars buried by their order. The order insists that the display is not meant to be macabre, but a silent reminder of the swift passage of life on Earth and of mortality. The apartments for this purpose are very small, yet harbour hundreds of such tenants. They lie here till they are dried up; when they are brought to light again, in order to yield their former spaces to their successors. - Arthur Aikin, "The Annual Review", 1806 When the friars arrived at the church in 1631, moving from the old monastery, they brought 300 cartloads of the remains of deceased friars. Fr. Michael of Bergamo oversaw the arrangement of the bones in the burial crypt. The soil in the crypt was brought from Jerusalem, by order of Pope Urban VIII. As friars died during the lifetime of the crypt, the longest-buried friar was exhumed to make room for the newly deceased, who was buried without a coffin and the newly reclaimed bones were added to the decorative motifs. Bodies typically spent 30 years decomposing in the soil, before being exhumed. The bones were arranged along the walls, and the friars began to bury their own dead there, as well as the bodies of poor Romans, whose tomb was under the floor of the present Mass chapel. Here the Capuchins would come to pray and reflect each evening before retiring for the night. The crypt, or ossuary, now contains the remains of 4,000 friars buried between 1500 and 1870, during which time Roman Catholic Church permitted burial in and under churches. As of 1851, the crypt was only opened to the public in exchange for an admittance fee for the week following All Souls Day. As of 2022, it is open to the public daily except for certain holidays. From 1851-1852, women were not admitted to the crypt. This grandad found a 500 year-old, 17ft deep well under his living room in Plymouth, Devon, England. As well as, he also found a 16th Century BC, Bronze Age Sword and Coin from 1725 AD, inside the well :- The 70 year-old Colin Steer has spent last decade digging out well after he found it while redecorating living room of his home. He noticed a dip in floor while carrying out DIY, which led him to uncover well. While digging it out, Steer found what he thinks is the leather casing of a sword, which he believes could date the structure to 1500s. The 70-year-old said: "I found what seemed to be a leather casing of a sword when I was about 5ft into dig which leads me to believe that well could be medieval. "However it could date back to even earlier than that because we have no real way of accurately dating it at moment." He said that house was constructed in 1895 and he moved there in 1988 but it was 10 years ago while decorating that he saw the dip. "I immediately thought someone must have buried someone under there or that we had a sinkhole. "Since that moment, I decided I was going to dig it out and see what I would find. The hole is currently 17ft deep and there is about another 4-5ft that I want to dig out when I eventually get round to it. Since I began digging out well, I have also found a coin from 1725. In late 18th Century AD, during reign of George III, government issued large copper coins known as "Cartwheel" penny and twopence. An ancient sword was also discovered inside the well. Historically, sword developed in Bronze Age, evolving from dagger; earliest specimens date to about 1600 BC. The later Iron Age sword remained fairly short and without a crossguard. At the bottom of well the is about 4ft of water, so everything that I did out now will be wet and mucky stuff." Colin wants to go another few feet further down though before he finishes and although he is bringing up mud into his living room, he says that his wife Vanessa is understanding and is equally interested in the well. His plan is to then extend well wall up into his living room and use it as a coffee table which he thinks will make an attractive feature. He is also keen to find out why the well is actually there and consulting old maps have not given any answers. He said: "I would extend the walls of the well up through the floor and then add a round tabletop on top to make it into a coffee table. I think it would be a great feature for our front room. We still aren't really sure about why the well is there". The 17ft hole in the couple's living room is currently covered over by a sheet of Perspex and a trap door so that it is safe. Colin and Vanessa have grandchildren who love to look down the hole through the sheet of Perspex and they are very intrigued by unique feature in their grandparent's home. He added: "It is a good thing to show off to people as it is not something that you see every day. I have actually even tried some of water that is at the bottom of the well. It was really clear and tasted fine to me. I am going to get it tested for bacteria and if everything came back good then I could even bottle it up and sell it." According to the researchers, this well belonged to a wealthy or noble families, because only high status families could afford their own private well - most likely in the basement of your house, during medieval and late medieval times. Because, it was common for external wells to be poisoned in Medieval times, which is why castles would have them built internally. It could take decades to construct the well but it was worth wait to have your own clean water. To prevent well from collapsing, some were lined with stones, bricks or wood. Researchers also stated that, according to the preservation status of this well, it looks that the well was regularly maintained, to keep functional for long. It also involved periodic cleaning to remove debris, prevent contamination and maintain quality of water. #archaeohiatories

1/ Wednesday, 31 December 2025, my wife and I were part of the three thousand five hundred guests or so who attended the Celestial Chorus Soirée, Third Edition, a Thanksgiving Year-End Event hosted by Dr K.R. and Mrs S. Tagwirei at the Harare International Conference Centre. Preceding the main event was a dinner banquet characterised by a lot of feasting, eating, song, and dance. Guests were served with a wide range of cuisine - Italian, French, Chinese cuisine, you name it. Being a Seventh-day Adventist event in the main, missing from the menu were alcoholic beverages. The dinner was served outside the Rainbow Hotel building, on the north side overlooking Samora Machel Avenue, in a specially designed construction complete with floor and roof, and well lit to the extent that you would mistake it for a permanent structure or appendage to the hotel building. I am short of words to describe the grandeur of the banquet, save to borrow from Johanne Masowe eChishanu. Guests were treated to a “Sapatina” to the accompaniment of serenading music - calm and light music. Of the music, to share, I took photographs of what impressed me the most, namely the three ladies dressed in angelic style, with immaculate dresses flowing to the floor, standing on raised platforms and belting out music from musical instruments as guests arrived. On the floor, as part of the cast, were girls donning angelic wings, waving and flowing with the music. After “the Sapatina, the food of angels”, guests trooped to the HICC Main Auditorium. As we strode into the auditorium, what immediately caught my eye, or rather what I looked at in amazement, was how the stage was set. It blew my mind off. Just in front of and below where I was sitting on the terraces was the full cast of an orchestra symphony. Right ahead was the illusion of a hill/mountain to climb, with performers dressed in white at different heights of this illusionary hill/mountain. In between the orchestra and the illusionary hill/mountain lay two platforms, with the one immediately next to the orchestra serving as a platform for presenter-singers, and the platform immediately in front of the illusionary hill/mountain serving as the location of the Director of Ceremonies and the pianist. The Director of Ceremonies, the very talented Everton Mlalazi, doubled up as director of ceremonies and presenter-singer. On either side of the singers’ platform, as part of the stage, were white-robed singers/dancers. As guests, we were treated to an unforgettable night of gospel music, with performers and audience coming from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Uganda, Nigeria, Zambia, Tanzania, etc. The gospel music performances took us to midnight and into the New Year, 2026, when guests trooped outside the hotel to watch the spectacular drone fireworks display. $1M Bitcoin in 2027 Everyone thinks Michael Saylor and ETFs get us there. I think it’s Paul Sztorc and the eCash.com $BTC hard fork. I sat with Paul Sztorc who made me realise eCash could be one of the most important forks in bitcoins history, stimulating our greatest bullrun ever. The tldr is in August if you hold bitcoin you get the equivalent in eCash. Now eCash on its own merit is already interesting. It’s led by Paul Sztorc who has spent years campaigning to improve bitcoins mechanical utility. He’s a certified legit Bitcoin OG who wants to add functional layers on-top of Bitcoin to enable Bitcoin to be the rails for the broader world of commerce. He plans to achieve this with side chains that are sort of like L2s on Bitcoin. Imagine if Bitcoin had smart contracts and $btc was the currency for all apps in the world. 🤔so technically it’s already very compelling. You will get that for free just by owning Bitcoin. But that’s not all. Paul has figured out a way to finance new forks. I believe this will trigger a new season of fork innovations. Basically fork wars 2.0 only this time it’s based around experimentation and innovation instead of outright kill Bitcoin. Institutions have been all the craze recently but they have never been the source of crypto's biggest expansions. The people who built this industry were. The Cryptographers, the hackers, the builders and the cypherpunks. Everyone is focusing on Strategy selling Bitcoin, meanwhile the upcoming eCash hard fork from Paul Sztorc is being wildly underestimated. Technically, the idea of improving bitcoins mechanical utility is appealing but the event itself is also financially dramatic inducing a huge wealth effect for a whole new generation of Bitcoin holders and it may remind the market who actually drives innovation in this industry. Every major crypto boom began when a small group of weird, intelligent, highly-convicted people challenged the status quo and built something new. And while everyone thinks the next bull market comes from Wall Street, I think much more poetically it comes from the same place every other one did: The real Bitcoiners.
