Wind gusts reached 90-100 mph in some areas of the Front Range yesterday evening, and as soon as it was safe, crews mobilized to assess damage, patrol lines, and inspect equipment. Restoration work has started and will be ongoing for several days as our teams battle with an additional round of severe wind tomorrow morning. We appreciate your patience and kindness to our crews as they navigate difficult conditions.

Students - you are safe at school. Parents - your kids are safe to be sent to school. Educators - we’ve got your backs and will protect you too. We released new dollars today so every school division can review their safety plans and do what needs to be done in light of the recent incident. We will keep working with communities, staff, and law enforcement to ensure kids are safe in Manitoba as well as every single school in our province.

Line crews are on the ground in Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee assessing transmission line damage and working to restore service. We are working closely with local power companies to restore service in affected areas and coordinate restoration efforts. While the storm is moving out, extreme cold is expected this week. Icy patches and black ice remain a concern overnight, with temperatures dropping into the single digits and wind chills near zero.
