America was built on a foundational belief in the God given right of every individual and the inherent dignity of every human being. The Chinese Communist Party rejects that truth at its core. It does not view certain groups within its own population as people with inherent dignity, but as a collection of extractable body parts. And they look at America and Americans through exactly the same lens. Just as it calculates the value of a prisoner's cornea or kidney or heart, it calculates how to extract America's technology, markets, its alliances, and ultimately its sovereignty. The lesson of the CCP's decades of kill-to-order forced organ harvesting is that the regime is capable of anything at others' expense. Let us honor the 250th anniversary of this nation's founding by confronting this atrocity.

Almost 60 years ago, my father, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., spoke with moral clarity about the dangers of war and the consequences of militarism. And here we are again. We are still too often drunk with war and militarism, choosing destruction over understanding and power over principle. The cost continues to be measured in human lives, broken communities, and a world pushed further from peace. We must commit ourselves to the discipline of nonviolence and the hard work of creating the Beloved Community. When my father spoke out against the war in Vietnam, he did so not because it was popular, but because his conscience would not allow him to remain silent. He called on this nation to choose a different path, to withdraw from violence, and to reclaim its moral authority in the world. He understood that war does not strengthen a nation’s soul. It weakens it. Today, we are once again faced with decisions that will define who we are and what we value. We cannot claim moral leadership while escalating conflict, threatening destruction, and placing human lives at risk. The measure of our strength is not in our ability to wage war, but in our willingness to pursue peace with discipline, courage, and restraint. My father warned us that silence in moments of moral crisis is not neutral. It is a choice. The question before us now is whether we will repeat the same patterns, or choose a higher way forward grounded in nonviolence and the dignity of all people. #MLK #Nonviolence365 #BelovedCommunity

Daddy never taught that we should live in a colorblind world that ignores our differences. He called us to build a society where our differences are respected and where no one’s race, ethnicity, or religion is used against them. Too often, his words from the “I Have a Dream” speech are taken out of context and used in ways that overlook the fullness of what he taught about justice and dignity. Dr. King spoke clearly about discrimination, economic inequality, and police brutality. Many of those issues are still with us today. If we truly want to honor his legacy, we must understand the full scope of his message and commit ourselves to the discipline of nonviolence as a way forward. In 1965, at the conclusion of the Selma to Montgomery March, he called for the kind of civic engagement that could help transform this nation. It is deeply troubling to witness progress that was so hard fought for being weakened and dismantled. But we must not be discouraged, and we must not be deterred. That is why conversations like “The Power of the Vote: Protecting Democracy in a Defining Moment” matter so much. We must stay informed, stay engaged, and remain committed to protecting democracy at the ballot box and beyond. Cleaning is one of the most essential jobs in any society. Without cleaners, our hospitals, schools, offices, markets, airports, and streets simply cannot function. While I was in Ghana, I met a cleaner and told him, “I do the same job in Europe.” The difference is not the dignity of the work—the difference is the value placed on the people doing it. My cleaning job in Europe has allowed me to live with dignity, support my family, and pursue my dreams. Every cleaner in Ghana deserves that same respect and a fair wage. It’s time for employers, policymakers, and decision-makers to recognize that cleaners are not “just cleaners.” They are frontline workers who protect public health, keep our communities running, and make life better for everyone. Respect cleaners. Pay them fairly. A society that depends on their work should never undervalue the people who do it. Share this message until the right people see it. I have arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, and even at this moment, I still cannot believe that I am here. I still cannot believe that I survived the genocide that my people in Gaza are enduring. For the first time in my life, I have left Gaza, and for the first time, I feel safe after years of fear and war. I am deeply grateful to everyone who helped me reach this place, and I will do everything I can to achieve what I came here for — for myself, for my family, and for Gaza. But the truth is that only my body is here. My heart, mind, and soul remain there in Gaza, with my family in Deir al-Balah, and with everyone who continues to face death, fear, and suffering every single day. I may be far away from Gaza now, but Gaza will never leave me. I will carry it with me wherever I go, and it will remain present in every step I take and in every success I achieve.
