Trump is doing everything he can to hide his immigration detention abuses — lying to the public, sending people to third countries, and denying members of Congress access to detention facilities. But I promise you I will not give up in this fight for truth and justice.

Trump and Republicans gave ICE $45 billion in their Big Bad Betrayal Bill to ramp up their campaign to kidnap and disappear immigrants — sending many to inhumane detention centers. Yet DHS is refusing to allow members of Congress to conduct oversight visits of these facilities.

Congress has a constitutional duty to provide oversight of the Executive Branch to hold presidential admins accountable to the people. Trump and DHS have blocked every one of our efforts to tour and inspect ICE detention facilities, as we are legally authorized to do. If everything is above board, why are they illegally denying our access?

23 people have died in immigration detention this year under the Trump administration, and ICE seems to be lying about the circumstances. They told Congress that Chaofeng Ge died by suicide, but he was found with his hands and feet tied. That simply doesn’t add up.

This is the Tacoma immigration detention camp that Trump is likely making millions off of and you can hear the people in there thanking protesters from inside yelling “Thank you” to them and you can see them lined up in shadows. This is heartbreaking to see and hear this.

I led a group of Members to Stewart Detention Center to conduct oversight. What we saw was horrific — and the people we spoke with have no criminal records and should not even be in detention. We must shut down this facility and all private, for-profit detention centers.

Today, the House voted to give DHS more funding. But we will not give up, we must continue to demand more. I introduced the Melt ICE Act to end funding for immigrant detention and monitoring, cripple immigration enforcement, and return funds to our communities. Let’s continue organizing!

I spoke to a person detained by ICE yesterday, and it was heartbreaking. He is the caregiver of a young daughter, works two jobs, has medical issues, and has been in detention for over a month. We must continue to fight for real oversight at these detention facilities.

We are not angry enough. Every day, the violent, racist Trump regime is destroying lives, violating basic human rights, and testing what this country will tolerate. We need mass, peaceful protests across this country - at scale. Right now. Nobody is coming to save us. Justice for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. Justice for Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Justice for the tens of thousands of people locked up in ICE detention centers, abused and denied basic dignity. Justice for the people we’ve shackled and deported back to violence, repression, or to third countries they have no connection to. If this doesn’t move us into the streets, what will?

Since day ONE of the Trump administration, I have asked state and local governments to step up and partner with DHS on standing up new alien detention facilities. Thank you, Florida, for stepping up and answering that call! Alligator Alcatraz will give us space to detain the worst of the worst so that we can put the American people FIRST. Thank you President Donald J. Trump Trump. Make America Safe Again 🇺🇸

NEW: I showed up unannounced at the immigration detention facility at SFO yesterday. I was concerned by reports of green card holders being detained for days, including a 67-year-old diabetic held for eight days without adequate medical care. When the Trump Administration uses our tax dollars to lock people up, we deserve to know what’s happening inside. I will always demand answers to ensure that people being held in detention are treated with dignity and provided access to basic needs and their lawyers.

Radel: What’s been your approach to handling President Trump during his second term in office? Shapiro: Look, my job is to get stuff done for the good people of Pennsylvania and, as I’ve made abundantly clear, to stand up to the president when he does something that hurts our commonwealth. One example that hit this community directly is when Donald Trump said that he was going to put two ICE detention centers in this area, and in neighboring counties as well. I fought back, and I won, and those two detention centers are not being built here in Pennsylvania.

I confronted Congressman Randy Fine about his complete indifference to the illegal detention of 16-year-old Floridian Mohammed Ibrahim in the West Bank. All he said was, "You lost my interest in your question," and walked away. In Congress, I promise to stand up to genocide, apartheid, and AIPAC's politicians who enable Israel's actions.

ICYMI: I introduced my Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act, which would require greater oversight of detention facilities, repeal mandatory detention, and prohibit the detention of families and children. It’s time to protect immigrants from this lawless administration.

One of my constituents died in ICE custody two weeks ago, so I went to Philadelphia's Federal Detention Center, and 2 things stood out to me: 1. This is a federal prison holding largely people who have not committed a crime. 2. The people running these ICE facilities don't understand that the rule of law is not optional. Honoring your rights is not optional. We're going to keep up the fight for all of our rights in court and in Congress. Stand with us and make your voice heard.
