What they are racing for, and the reason they ignore all safety and ethics concerns, is because they are confident one of their tech companies, like Retro, *will solve aging in the next decade or two.* These guys are racing to accumulate capital and societal control to become oligarchs that *cannot die.* With this bait on the table, there is no stop that they will not pull out, and they have made this promise to many of the government stooges that are going along with this.
