Trump: We announced decisive action to help keep down the oil prices including offering political risk insurance for tankers. The oil has pretty much stabilized. We had it pretty low but I had to take this little detour. They were going to hit us.

Trump: And we had to get the countries. First we had to get the companies and the companies were pretty good, but they, they knew I couldn't get the countries, so they didn't care that much, I think we, when we got the countries

Collins: Do you think the US needs Europe's help, as the president has made the case today or he also moments later argued that they don't need their help? Rick Scott: Of course we don’t need their help Collins: But he’s asking for their help. Scott: if they want oil prices to come down faster, then they're going to show up. Collins: If the Strait of Hormuz doesn’t open, how are oil prices going to come down? Scott: It will open eventually. Collins: How long will it be closed? Scott: I don’t know. How long is it going to take to make sure they don’t have nuclear weapons?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: "We just had a great meeting with the oil executives, we sort of formed a deal." "They're going to be going in with hundreds of billions of dollars in drilling oil and it's good for Venezuela, and it's great for the United States." "A lot of money is going to be made. Oil prices will come down, although they are getting down pretty good now without it, and it was a great meeting we had today with the biggest companies anywhere in the world."

Trump on Iran: We really had no choice. They were going to hit us if we didn’t hit them because they are crazy. In the long term, the actions we are taking will dramatically increase the stability of the region, oil prices, the stock market, and everything else.

Trump: We’ve gotten prices way down for groceries. Oil especially. Today we broke 60 a barrel. We think the oil is going to be under 2 a gallon very soon

Trump: I brought the prices down. We had yesterday three states where oil was at $1.99 a gallon, how about that?

President Trump: "We had to take a little detour. Won't be long. It's going to end soon. But we had to take a little detour, go to Iran, and we had to put out a fire, a very dangerous fire that could have blown up big portions of the world, if not the whole thing."

Trump: "If I had my choice, what would I like to do? Take the oil, because it's there for the taking…Unfortunately, the American people would like to see us come home. If it were up to me, I'd take the oil. I'd keep the oil. I would make plenty of money."

.Karoline Leavitt: "Thus far, the Trump Administration has offered political risk insurance to tankers operating in the Gulf. Treasury Department temporarily waved certain oil-related sanctions, and the Commander-in-Chief, has offered the U.S. Navy to escort tankers when necessary... Rest assured to the American people, the recent increase in oil and gas prices is temporary and this operation WILL result in lower gas prices in the long-term."

Trump: We've done very well with Venezuela. And by the way, that even in itself is going to help us bring down the oil prices and the Venezuelan oil. We've taken 50 billion, 50 million gallons of oil.

Trump: if we have no friction, then oil will go down to—I think it will go down to $2.50 a gallon It was down to $1.85 before I had to make this little journey to the Islamic Republic of Iran. I had to make it
