The average price of ground beef in the USA, Raised over 1$ a pound since January 20th, 2025. Now its almost 7$ a pound. And it’s not just beef, everything on the shelf has climbed between 5% and 25%, prior to feb 28th it was largely driven by sweeping tariffs that function as a massive, regressive tax on American consumers. Since then, Trump’s reckless and unnecessary military escalation with Iran has constricted global oil supply Trumps totally unnecessary war in Iran has choked the worlds oil supply causing it to spike. Diesel is now over 5$ a gallon for only the 2nd time in history. Very possible to see this go to 6-7 dollars a gallon for diesel unless the strait of hormuz is completely reopened. Normal Gas has jumped a dollar or more, average cost is almost $4 a gallon now. Very possible that is going to rise to 5-6 dollars soon too. These rising fuel costs don’t exist in isolation, they ripple through the entire economy. Transportation becomes more expensive, production costs increases, and every item on every store shelf absorbs that pressure. The result is predictable(to everyone but Trump): another wave of price increases, likely around 10% in the near term, with more to follow if the oil markets remain disrupted. Trumps actions have directly increased the price of everything in the United States.
