Yes to all of this ☝️. I agree with everything you've said above @KevinRobertsTX . I would take it a few steps further. Trump should follow up on his epic speech in Saudi Arabia and make a strong foreign policy speech on National TV, direct to the people. These principles you have outlined make a LOT of sense (Realism, Sovereignty, Allies paying their fair share), but they are missing an overall theme. I propose the following as the Trump Doctrine: Republic/Not Empire 1. Let's dramatically reduce the DoD budget to help reign our federal spending problem. 1a. This means the Pentagon needs to pass an audit (which it hasn't been able to do in 7 years). 1b. This also means we need a specific DOGE-like committee focused on rooting out fraud, corruption and abuse in both the DoD and Defense Contractors who are consistently years behind schedule and billions over budget. 1c. Rhetorical question: why are defense contractors publicly listed corporations? Why does our financial system financially reward companies for creating/building war-related products and goading countries into war? @realDonaldTrump just said in Saudi Arabia "I want to be a peacemaker. I don't like war." 2. Define what drawdown of our Empire means (as well as making our Allies pay for their own defense): 2a. Drawdown the vast majority of our 750 military bases in 80 countries abroad (@QuincyInst). Seriously, why does a "Republic" like 🇺🇸 need the global footprint of an Empire? 2b. Specifically draw down 3 of the largest bases with American soldiers (🇯🇵🇩🇪🇰🇷). Why are we putting 100K 🇺🇸 lives at risk in countries where we fought wars like 80 years ago?? We can continue to provide the nuclear umbrella and strategic training, but countries like 🇯🇵🇩🇪🇰🇷 need to provide their citizens and funds to defend their own countries. 2c. Remove the Executive Branch's ability to continue to take us into more expensive forever wars. The Founders were right -- Congress should declare war. It should be MUCH more difficult to declare war (or "police action" or whatever lies come out of the NSA/CIA/DOD warmongers' mouths). 3. Stop talking about annexing foreign countries like Canada and Greenland. Republic/not Empire. Work closely with Canada, Greenland and Panama to keep our trade safe and our enemies out of our hemisphere. Sovereignty, not globalism. 4. Starve the Beasts (better strategy than the "Axis of Evil"). If we bring back manufacturing and energy indepence to the US, we have less need for expensive "projection of force" against 🇨🇳🇷🇺🇮🇷. 4a. Take the international trade "war" to the next level by decoupling from China. Our international trade with China helps fund their military adventurism. Stop the flow of money. Bring the manufacturing and jobs back to 🇺🇸. Trump needs to give American manufacturers (looking at Apple @tim_cook) both the carrot (massive tax breaks) and the stick (massive tax hikes) if they continue to hollow out the American middle class in search of indentured-servant wage jobs in China/India/Vietnam. 4b. Drill, frack and build domestic nuclear energy to reduce America and the world's dependence on Russian and Iranian oil. Their petro-$$ fund military adventurism.
