I spoke with a very senior IDF officer operating in southern Lebanon. Here is what I learned. Israel is making sure Hezbollah and its supporters have nowhere to return to along the border. These villages were turned into Hezbollah forward positions. Now they are no more. At the same time, Christian villages in the area remain intact, with the IDF coordinating with local communities and even facilitating humanitarian aid.
