The scariest thing ever after Mama would get onto one of us, wait until your father comes home. It may be a few days. Daddy was a pharmaceutical salesman for a drug company. He traveled to different counties and towns Monday thru Wednesday. So. It would be silent dinners and no misbehaving for two days if it was Monday when you got in trouble. We picked our own switches for little things. Daddy had a belt. He did not abuse us. A lick or two. But waiting was torture. Daddy wanted peace. He’d come home and he would be pissed.
