Pontic Greeks dance the Pyrrhichios, an ancient Greek war dance, in the "Hagia Sophia" stadium in Athens. Highly symbolic 🦅

Nothing is more disgusting than Turks erasing native heritage and claiming it as their own 'Turkic people' dance. What shameless, despicable poeple! It’s literally the Pontic Greek dance χορός (khorós)

Pyrrhichios, the ancient Greek war dance According to Aristotle it has its origins in Achilles, who was strongly idolised in Pontus. To this day Pontic Greeks are the only ones to have preserved this dance, which showcases the deep connection to their archaic Greek roots.

Pontic Greeks dancing the Pyrrhichios (Pyrrhic dance) inside the Hagia Sophia Stadium in Athens. Under Tourkokratia Pontic Greeks were isolated from the rest of Greeks. They somehow kept Ancient dances alive, which the rest of the Greek world forgot. This is the very same dance Achilles danced around the funeral pyre of Patroclus. Black Sea Greeks venerated Achilles the most, so it is natural they kept it to this day. In every Pontic Greek the soul of Achilles is living on!

"In 2009, a news report was broadcast on Turkish television discussing Güneysu, a district in Erdoğan’s hometown of Rize (known as Potamya in Greek). Although 'Potamya' is a Greek word
