keep in mind im very noob at this so it might not be best practise but it worked for me blah blah blah used this tutorial to get the actual angle detection and then just set a variable and made it transition to a anim state when its on

took alot of fiddling around and trial and error to get it fine tuned to how i exactly wanted but yeah, also instead of having it on event tick i just set it to a anim notify state per tick function so i can make it not detect it from idle so u can just turn normally

(can also be achieved by adding a condition to the anim state transition of a minimum velocity if your character has a acceleration to the walk) also having it as a anim notify i could have it reset the input direction value to the players rot when the notify ends
