She's absolutely right. We've lost pride we've lost dignity. I was explaining to my sons showing them pictures of men how they dressed in the '50s and '60s. They used to wear suits to sporting events. Now look at what we do. How the mighty have fallen

What has happened to the African-American community over the last 75 years?

We are focused on the wrong things. We need to be pouring into these children and young adults, so that they’re inspired to be their best. I’m no fan of the bonnet, in fact they’re hot as hell. But that’s me. We need to help them find their way and lead by example.

Is there a truly a difference between the early 1900s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, till now?

The message is too true but the hypocrisy is hilarious. You're literally in bed wear complaining about folks in public in bed wear. Umm sweet baby, you're literally wear what your telling folks not to wear

I don’t normally agree with Monique but I totally agree. I told my son’s girlfriend to stop wearing a bonnet around me in public and I told my son to stop putting a hood over his head unless it’s raining. They stopped out of respect for me.

@mistergeezy We keep lowering the bar for ourselves and using rhetoric like “anti-black” and “respectability politics” to defend the right to be mediocre and disheveled in all aspects of our lives.

I have never understood wearing bedroom slippers out and about. They don't even have a decent sole and then will have holes after one or 2 wearings on cement. You can get cheap slides at dollar general for $5.

And for the young men, please take the durags off and also be presentable

The bonnet for running around does not bother me. The jammies do. Put on something nice and casual. Cover your bodies and body fat. I have seen large girls, and skinny ones, showing more butt than I woman wearing a bikini! 🤮🤮 I have seen more gut than a gastrointestinal doc.

Unfortunately, if you want to dress nice, get an education, better yourself, your own community says you want to be like a colonizer. Its the black community hating on the blacks. The black community needs to uplift each other instead of tear each other down.

The thing is generations before took great pride in looking their best at all times they didn’t have to be ballers or entertainers nor had to be told what to wear in public , at an interview or work. They were taught practice makes perfect cleanliness is next to Godliness

A lot of us grew up being told that dressing neatly, tucking in a shirt, speaking professionally, or carrying ourselves a certain way was “acting white.” As a result, instead of feeling free to present ourselves authentically and professionally… so it was the inverse on steroids

It’s no mistake that those who wear bonnets and durags outside also happen to be those who tend to be from lower socioeconomic status, have less going on in life, etc. Upkeep is how we signal otherwise

Facts! ! But it's not just the females, it's the males too! ( Let's not forget them) Take pride in your appearance always! Your mother use to tell you to put on good clean underwear!

Social Media has caused women to develop Histrionic Personality Disorder, they are becoming clones. They are all getting BBL's, lip injections, fake lashes, baby hair, bad attitude & have the same mentality. No accountability, participating in the hoe culture and playing victim.

And I say this to Monique, as I said to her back then when she recorded this video. It didn’t start with the young people themselves. Young people have always wanted to do something that wasn’t appropriate. The question is when did parents stop teaching?
