Just use a particle emitter and math nodes it's easier to teach and several times faster to render.

I'm not as familiar with only using the math nodes to create shapes, but i'll keep it in mind. i used geometry nodes over a particle system since i felt like it'd be a nice introduction to the basics of geo nodes for beginners :)

You can do it yourself or find a premade one here and then in blender go to Preferences > Get Extensions > Themes, type the name of the one you liked, install
