September 11 should never be reduced to just a date on the calendar. It was a day when thousands of innocent Americans lost their lives, families were shattered, and our country was changed forever. It was also a day when firefighters, police officers, paramedics, flight crews, office workers, and ordinary citizens showed the world what courage really looks like. Some never made it home. Some gave everything trying to save a stranger. Some carried the scars of that day for the rest of their lives. So today we remember all of them. The mothers and fathers. The sons and daughters. The workers. The passengers. The first responders. The heroes. We honor the lives taken. We honor the courage shown. And we promise never to forget. God bless every soul we lost on 9/11, and God bless the heroes who ran toward the danger.
