Twitch streamer Pirate Software explains how much it really costs Twitch to host streams

For all of the armchair experts in the comments stating that Amazon has changed the rates for Twitch. They have not. We've had numerous former and current Twitch staff in chat talking about this even when I had the calculator up. Twitch does not get a special deal here. They pay the same rates everyone else (Kick included) does. All of these customers get High Volume Pricing Discounts which nobody is privy too. @PirateSoftware i was a network engineer at twitch 3rd party services like this were only ever used for overflow capacity during big events with high loads why would they shut down all the baremetal in the datacenters/pops we built (cheap, fast) and pay amazon? seems like he misunderstands

@PirateSoftware Pretty misleading, doesn't factor in so much. That's Amazon IVS pricing for third parties, not reflective of actual costs for Amazon / Twitch. Amazon owns Twitch, and Amazon has the incredible pre-existing infrastructure, nodes, servers, bandwidth, etc.
