(Yes Beaker is more of a Dana Scully type) Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS: 1.Discovery: The comet was discovered by two independent teams, one from the Purple Mountain Observatory (Tsuchinshan) in China and the other by the ATLAS (Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System) in Hawaii, in early 2023. 2.Bright Comet Potential: C/2023 A3 has the potential to become one of the brightest comets visible in recent times. Traveler: The comet is moving at a speed of around 180,000 miles per hour (290,000 kilometers per hour), a breakneck speed as it journeys through space toward the inner solar system. 4.Close Encounter: At its closest approach to Earth, in October 2024, the comet will pass at a distance of about 70 million kilometers (43 million miles) from our planet. 5.Long Period: Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is considered a long-period comet, meaning its orbit around the Sun takes more than 200 years, though the exact length of its orbit is still being studied. 6.Sun-Grazing Distance: The comet will make its closest approach to the Sun, known as perihelion, in September 2024, coming within about 0.39 astronomical units (AU) of the Sun (about 58 million kilometers or 36 million miles), which is closer than the orbit of Mercury!
