we used to duo with barely any comms. same call. barely talking. just two people in the same game. saying the bare minimum. "flash down" "dragon" "nice" that's it. that was the whole conversation. she'd engage and i'd follow. we never talked about it after. i'd die and she'd just keep playing. no reaction. no "unlucky." nothing. we won games and moved on. lost games and moved on. no celebration. no discussion. just queue again. xayah and rakan in the same lane running on autopilot. maybe that's why we didn't last the first time. two people who still moved like one in game. but had nothing to say outside of it. synergy kept us duoing. silence kept us apart. now? she engages and i'm hyping her up before she lands. she giggles when it works. we talk. real talking. not just callouts. "that was disgusting" "you're actually smurfing" words i forgot we used to say. same two players. same two champions. completely different energy. the bare minimum is gone. replaced by something i forgot we had. turns out xayah and rakan weren't the problem. we just didn't know what we had until we lost it. took a breakup to remember how to talk. took distance to realize what was right in front of us. we're back in the same lobby now. and this time we're not letting go. study the Saskio & Rins way
