The British Mandate for the land of Israel ended in May 1948. It will never return. The political pressure on Israel, which manifests itself in various ways, has one goal: to bring about an end to the war without achieving its goals, while Hamas still controls Gaza and continues to endanger Israel's security. This is pressure, well planned and timed, that includes a series of moves by various countries, decisions in international forums, and proceedings in the so-called "international courts." The actions and decisions against Israel also contribute to hardening Hamas' stance in the negotiations for the hostage deal - and distance it and the ceasefire. This is the context in which the decision by the UK and other countries against Ministers Smotrich and Ben Gvir must be seen in. Israel is a sovereign, independent, and proud state that is fighting a historic battle for its existence against a regional axis working to destroy it. Israel will emerge from this battle with the upper hand - first and foremostly because it has no other choice. The decisions taken against Ministers in the Israeli government, which is collectively responsible for its decisions, are outrageous and unacceptable. Those within Israel who try to justify such decisions are doing something severe. I commend MK Benny Gantz for his responsible and patriotic response. Early next week, we will hold a government meeting in which we will decide on our response to the decisions taken against the Ministers.

The Lagos State Government will undertake enforcement action to remove over 100 shanties at Adeniji Adele underbridge from tomorrow, Monday, 6th of May, 2024. The removal is coming after the expiration of a 48-hour removal notice served on all occupants of the shanties to move with their belongings. And operatives of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI/LAGESC) and officials from the Monitoring Enforcement and Compliance (MEC) department of the ministry will be given security backup to conduct the operation. This exercise is part of the avowed commitment of the present administration under Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reclaim all ungoverned spaces that dot the Lagos landscape. Unsightly shanties which are located in the heart of Lagos Island represent a distorted image of what a smart city like Lagos should be. Apart from the unsanitary conditions of residents in the shanties, it also serves as a hiding place for criminals and points for peddling hard drugs and substances which is injurious to the wellbeing of law-abiding residents. The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026, which presents as a reform, is in reality a retreat from constitutional morality, judicial guidance and the hard-fought rights of one of the most marginalized communities in our country. The transgender community in India has endured centuries of exclusion, stigma and violence. Any law that claims to protect them must be expansive, inclusive and rooted in dignity. The most alarming feature of this Bill is the complete removal of the definition of a transgender person as it exists in the 2019 Act. This Amendment Bill exposes the government’s inadequate and insensitive understanding of the transgender community. This Bill is not only against human being. The decisions we make in this House will shape the lives of countless individuals. Today I set out deep concerns about how the Government has handled decisions and communications surrounding the recent China spying case and the question of whether China poses a threat to the UK’s national security. The Government has made it difficult to obtain clear information about the timeline of meetings and the reasoning behind official statements. The Government’s approach has been evasive and inconsistent, with denials later giving way to partial admissions. This lack of transparency has eroded confidence and made it harder to get to the truth. At the heart of the issue is the role of the Deputy National Security Adviser (DNSA), who told Parliament that he was simply reflecting the Government’s position when asked whether China poses an active national security threat. I argued that this is not good enough. The question was a straightforward one, and the answer should have been equally straightforward: China does pose a threat to the UK’s national security across multiple fronts, from espionage and cyberattacks to sanctions and disinformation. I raised concerns about the meeting on 1 Sept, which appears to contradict earlier statements by the Prime Minister that no further evidence or discussions took place after that date. If such a meeting did occur with senior security officials present, the Government should release the minutes, at the very least to the Intelligence and Security Committee, to clarify what was discussed. I called for honesty and clarity in how the UK defines and responds to threats from China. Those of us who have been sanctioned and targeted by the Chinese state know first-hand how that threat manifests. The Government must stop obfuscating and start treating this issue with the seriousness it deserves: by acknowledging the reality of the threat, being transparent with Parliament and the public, and taking firm, decisive action to protect our national security.

The following video clip of Rishi Sunak will make many cringe. He is speaking to ANI, a propaganda tool for the right-wing Indian government, and what he says about Narendra Modi, his Hindu faith and the non-existent “Pro-Khalistan Extremism (PKE)” will make many UK MPs and the public uncomfortable. Conservative Ministers have admitted to Sikh representatives the term “Pro-Khalistan Extremism (PKE)” and a dedicated team in the Home Office to address this has simply been invented to appease the Indian government who are calling for extreme action. The Ministers accept the risk and threat from PKE is virtually non-existent. The term was introduced following a Sikh protester taking down the flag at the Indian High Commission in London on 19 March 2023. The Indian government overreacted and responded by dressing down the British High Commissioner in Delhi and removing security. The Conservatives are trying to reassure and draw a distinction between hundreds of thousands of Khalistan supporters in Britain who they accept are legitimately and democratically campaigning for a Sikh homeland and a handful of individuals who they regard as “extremists” who are Khalistan supporters. Apart from the flag incidence the Conservative UK government has struggled to give any concrete examples of extremism, but the disproportionate focus on PKE to appease India is upsetting many UK MPs on all sides, including those in government and the Sikh community. Colin Bloom, the government’s faith adviser, first mentioned the term in a report published in April 2023. Tom Tugendhat, the Security Minister mentioned the term in letters to MPs in June and now the PM has mentioned it in an email to PTI before his visit to India and in an interview on Indian TV. Priti Patel when Home Secretary first mentioned “Sikh extremism” in Britain in a speech in Washington DC in November 2021. She was publicly questioned and failed to provide evidence from the police (arrests or convictions) or information from the intelligence services. Boris Johnson before he resigned as PM was forced to write and apologise in July 2022 as UK MPs on all sides and over 350 Gurdwaras and Sikh organisations challenged him.

#WATCH | Delhi | Gymkhana club row | Advocate Naman Joshi says, "Abhishek Manu Singhvi made a couple of arguments - under the law, if there is to be a resumption of a lease and somebody has to take possession, you have to follow the procedure that is laid down in the Supreme Court's judgment and express newspapers and the government is at no better footing. The government would also then have to file a civil suit which is not what the courts that seem to be on the way that they were following. Second - the notice that has come on 22nd is unspecific and does not specifically talk about what public purpose, what urgent need is there to take over this land in such a short span of time... This lease has been in place for 100 years now, almost. And third - the members having to come would have come to court but today the Gymkhana club is run by 15 people who are nominated by the Government of India. The lesser is the Government of India and the lessee is controlled by the Government of India, so therefore there will be no real fight and which is why the members have to come and agitate the cause in a derivative action to say that the club needs to be protected. He also says, "Fortunately, the court found favour in these arguments. The Solicitor General also then appeared in the matter and said that the government of India will do nothing without following the due process of law. Defendant number 2, the club's counsel, also said that the club has, in fact, written a letter and opposed the government's move to take over and resume the land. The court has taken note of these concerns and passed the order after recording the Solicitor General's statement... It is a reprieve for the club... There will be no eviction on June 5th is what the order would read like."

These Australians are already trained, vetted, and trusted. This would also act as a powerful incentive to join the Police, the ADF, or the Armed Reserves — offering trusted individuals the ability to lawfully and discreetly carry for personal and public protection, with privacy respected and strict accountability maintained. Having hundreds of thousands of trained professionals quietly present in the community would increase deterrence and improve public safety — without changing everyday life for ordinary Australians. 2️⃣ Castle Doctrine for Homes & Businesses Homeowners and business owners should have the clear legal right to defend themselves, their families, and their property. If someone forcibly enters with intent to harm, steal, or threaten life, the law should support the use of decisive and overwhelming force in defence. 3️⃣ Legal Pepper Spray for Law-Abiding Australians Australians without criminal convictions should be allowed to purchase pepper spray for self-defence — a non-lethal option that empowers individuals and deters criminals. Together, these reforms would strengthen deterrence, restore confidence, and improve national security. You wouldn’t know who is carrying — but you would know that nearby, there may be someone trusted, trained, and capable of responding if the unthinkable happens. After I shared a video in which TMC’s Sagardighi candidate Byron Biswas admitted that TMC candidates in Sagardighi, Farakka, Jangipur, and Shamsherganj are losing, he has now issued a threat, claiming he spoke “emotionally” and saying he will file a case against me. Notably, he has not denied his remarks even once or called the video fake. Now, watch this video. He is openly threatening the state police, using abusive and uncivil language, telling them they are agents of the state government and should not work for Delhi. He goes so far as to warn that if they act on the directions of the Election Commission of India, they will be thrown out of West Bengal and forced to live in Delhi. In a clear attempt at intimidation, he claims that since the police draw salaries from the state government, they must follow their (read TMC’s) instructions. This is unacceptable in a democracy. I expect the West Bengal police across the state to act with neutrality and uphold the rule of law.
