When someone from 1 religion attacks another religion in a church it's clearly terrorism. A guy randomly attacks strangers not knowing their religion, it's not terrorism. They both can be mentally ill, however one attack is purely driven by religious hate for the other religion

No underlying ideology has been identified for Cauchi. All victims were women, so this could point to a misogynistic hate crime, but not enough to meet the threshold of terrorism. This is why his case is different to Brenton Tarrant- an actual white supremacist terrorist.

Easy answer: we have an epidemic of domestic violence against women. No one in power cares to stop it. The Bondi attack was domestic terrorism, but since it was a white bloke murdering women, they'll blame everything but hatred.
