REPORT | The State of Illinois and the City of Chicago filed a joint lawsuit Monday to stop President Trump from sending National Guard troops into the state. Gov. JB Pritzker blasted the plan as “Trump’s invasion,” after Trump first ordered 300 Illinois Guard members into federal service, then called up 400 more from Texas as part of his deportation campaign. The suit names Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem as defendants, and seeks a restraining order to block the mobilization. The filing came just hours after a federal judge in Oregon barred Trump from deploying Guard troops there, after reports the White House planned to redirect 300 California soldiers to Portland. Gov. Gavin Newsom confirmed the order halts “any federalization, relocation, or deployment of Guard members to Oregon from any state.” In Chicago, Mayor Brandon Johnson has signed an executive order designating city-owned parking lots, garages, and vacant lots as “ICE-free zones,” blocking federal immigration agents from using them as staging areas or processing sites. In nearby Broadview, the location of the ICE processing facility, the mayor has issued an executive order restricting protests outside the facility to the hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Starting today, demonstrations outside those times will be banned. 🎥 Video: Drop Site contributor Taha Syed spoke to a family that live across the street from the Broadview ICE facility. They blamed ICE and the police presence for the chaos. /1
