If he was up to the standards, Arteta would never have allowed him to leave and a new contract would have been offered. Tzolis is better and we upgraded. It’s a freaking job to these players and their real loyalty lie with their families and not you and I.

Tzolis plays like a footballer who understands physics and geometry. He’s not fast. He’s not particularly tricky. He’s not beating defenders with outrageous 1v1 ability. He understands one thing though: the ball is faster than the man. So why try to dribble past someone when you can move the ball into the space before they can get there, then move yourself into the next space? His game is basically angles, timing, distance and ball speed. He uses the ball to create his own pace. He doesn’t beat you with acceleration. He makes the ball beat you.

One of his standout qualities is the way he easily cuts inside and picks out runners in the box area with good passes. Something I used to cry out for Martinelli to do....but he couldn't. Martinelli preferred to take his man on the outside and cross....too one-dimensional.

He's an old school LW, like Pires and Liam Bradley. He dribbles, has control of the ball looks around for an opening and passes to other players in a dangerous area.

He fits Arteta’s system like a glove cos Arteta was pretty old school during his playing days as a CM.

Even the pass he gave to Saka, which Saka scuffed.

Looking up was Martinelli’s problem as well as over complicating things.
