Ubisoft removed the modern day element from Assasins Creed games because many players felt the modern segments interrupted historical immersion and game pacing. Who are these players?

The Abstergo storyline was an integral part of Assassin's Creed. I kind of lost interest after AC3 because of the way they handled Desmond Miles. They set things up for him to be a modern day assassin, only to never go through with it.

Yeah, it is a bummer. I wonder if they will ever get back to it.

@Cerebrum1233 Did you not read the Uprising comics?

@SpawnYaardReply No, I did not.

@SpawnYaardReply They basicly finished the Modern Day (and Juno) Arc in the AC:Uprising comics from 2012 in 12 Issues and it was a shitfest It had potential for sure, but they didnt push it hard enough.. didnt see it through and ruined the games with that since it shoulda been in the games!

@SpawnYaardReply That explains a lot, sigh.

Me! I never liked the slow paced yapping and I think it’s purely because they’re just lil tutorial feeling areas no significance to me personally ,UNLESS YOU LIKE THE HIDDEN ones Reason why it don’t matter to me is because the gameplay and game characters are always super fun to follow instead the historical view they make it feel like 🤷🏽, believe it or not haven’t ever finished one assassins creed either , but I have played too many to not have and my top 3 are Valhalla Odyssey Might have to go origins , Mind you this list only really accounts for graphics , map, feel of game , not full on mechanics , characters etc , also opinions list btw

I can see the reasoning here. They probably understood that players were more in historical aspect of the game than modern.

They didn't remove the cool modern-day segments like the one in the video, just the tedious, pointless ones in Black Flag.

I mean they have not been adding them in their later games.

I didn’t like the modern day elements so here.

By the time the MD was removed we were not doing things like this, we were doing busy work inside a corporate looking office being scolded by a corporate karen.

Lol they made it boring so that they can remove it

I think its more like they wrote themselves into a bad place when they made it so anyone could access any memories. The MD was cool because Desmond was the special character with ancestor DNA.

They felt that way because the segments in modern times weren't explored deeply. They could have made something deeper with it, developped it more with more gameplay instead of making feel like a sidequest. A 50% between modern and historical segments could feel more important.

I can see how that would be expensive to create 2 worlds for a single game.

Your Follow is much appreciated, expect game info, clips and conversations!

I think it worked in the older games, but recently it didn't feel like it had a purpose. If they're going to keep it in it needs to feel important to the story.

They hardly put it in the recent games, hard to judge its purpose really.

Yeah I mean the original point of the modern-day segments was you were learning skills and information from your ancestors at which point he then was able to bring those skills and knowledge into his own world. I definitely enjoyed it. Having that bit of meta story on top of the main historical setting.

So it all dying off with Desmond's death kinda makes sense then?

Yea I mean it definitely fell off after him but I wish they had leaned into them more not less and actually found ways to make that story continue and expand not dry up and disappear.

The black flag modern day stuff did feel like it interrupted the pirating while adding very little. The modern day stuff in the Ezio trilogy was pretty good tho

Most players are too dumb to follow the overarching storyline... It's those players, the ones who have no fucking clue what AC is actually even about. It's technically a Sci-fi game

I actually was one of those players. Actually, not having that part in Black Flag makes me want it more as that part of felt unnecessary imo

I think they should have kept it all. Travelling back in time, actually being part of an assassins creed. I thought it was cool

The only logical reasoning is that creating another world just for a few minutes was expensive.

When I was younger, I was hoping that one of the segments would have been entirely in the present with missions from various different time periods to collect information needed. Idk maybe that would have sucked but who knows

It was great until they murdered Desmond. ((

Me. It was a giant waste. I want to play as the character not the people studying the character.

I didn't care for the modern day parts because they never really resolved anything. If they went somewhere I'd probably feel different.

In case you want GTA 6.

The real reason is probably because they had no idea how to write a good modern day story for it. It was obvious they were already running out of ideas when Desmond killed that chick voiced by Kristen Bell.

There's a lot of them, unfortunately. I stand by my stance that Assassin's Creed without a functional, interactive, well-developed modern day isn't Assassin's Creed at all. I love AC3's. Everything up to Unity works for me, but I wish they'd have stuck with the OG plan.

The players who didn't enjoy the modern day sections are the ones who ruined AC. Not the combat changes, not the lack of stealth, not the over-used gameplay content. The modern day was leading up to a major story and y'all were just impatient. It was great having this for pacing.

I feel after AC 3 the modern day story made a lot less sense, I get how it still connected the story to modern day things but it didn't hit the same like it did from AC1 to AC3 with Desmond 🤷🏻♂️

As someone who’s played assassins Creed 2 back in the day up until the unity. I can tell you now there is nothing more frustrating than getting engrossed in a game and then all of a sudden having to play office work simulator. I kinda wish the franchise was just set in its time period without the modern storyline.

They made AC4 modern day segment a super shit walking simulator with barely any plot and just kinda gave up after that. Modern day in AC1 to III was great because it still felt like an AC game

Gamers don't play games for historical accuracy; we play because the game mechanics are fun!

Man, during the Desmond storyline, I literally played them FOR the modern day sections. I was investing in seeing Desmond tunn into an assassin. However, when that storyline ended, the modern day stuff became tacked on and poorly written. The Animus served a purpose in the Desmond Saga. Killing him was symbolic to killing the entire reason for the Animus.

The modern sections were fucking ass

I hated the modern day stuff. Made me quit the first 2 games.

The modern day elements are the actual lore. I don't get why people hate them so much. Especially the Desmond ones are pretty good. Honestly, it's a shame that they are removing them.

Zoomers who didnt pay attention to the story

People who hate the modern day have their attention span broken by the need for instant gratification, if you paid attention it was such a cool story

the present day segments is what made the games feel like thre was a larger picture. now it's just adventure of the month. which is fine, but it's missing an element that made it epic. series basically ended with 3. after that it was minimal present day templar vs ass's stuff.

I hate the out of The Animus parts and always have.

Me. I really only care about the past assassin stuff and while it informs the modern day, it completely takes me out of it. Nothing like playing og black flag and being a pirate then 5 minutes later slowly walking around with a tablet

Not very fun climbing a pale concrete building.
