Today, we're launching Base Core, our own battery designed & built in Texas, and announcing our $1B Series D to bring it to homes across the country. Three years ago, we started Base with a belief that batteries were the unlock to energy abundance. We saw battery storage as the foundation of a modern energy system, and believed we could win the market with vertical integration, technology, and relentless execution (what we now call Base Pace). So we set out to build a network of distributed batteries to deliver affordable, reliable electricity to homeowners and utilities. While the job is far from finished, the launch of Base Core is the most meaningful step in that plan. We’ve spent the last few years learning hard lessons about building a distributed battery fleet, going from 1 install per day in June of ‘24 to 100 installs per day in June of ‘26. These lessons - how the battery is shipped, installed, used, and monitored - informed the design of Core. Now, Core will be the foundation of the company's next phase of growth. Base Core is a first-of-its-kind home battery. At ~40 kWh it is 3x the size of most home batteries, providing up to 36 hours of backup for the average home. In the event of multi-day outage, Core is equipped with a (first of its kind) generator port - pull out a small portable generator and charge the battery back up to keep your home running as long as you need. When an outage does happen, the backup is seamless - most members won't even notice the grid went down. It's built to withstand Texas summers, Chicago Winters, and everything in between. And finally, it’s manufactured by our team in Austin, at Base Factory 1, right across the street from our HQ. This new capital will bring Core to more homes and to accelerate our ambition beyond batteries. The round is co-led by Ribbit, Addition, Valor, and JP Morgan, with participation from new major investors D1, Sands, Coatue, Layer Global, and Energy Impact Partners. All of Base’s major existing investors are re-investing, including Thrive, Altimeter, Lightspeed, a16z, CapitalG, Trust, and more. This brings our valuation to $13B. As we enter the most important growth period in the history of the electricity industry, our mission has not changed - advance human prosperity by delivering the world's most affordable and reliable electricity. Our strategy has not changed - technology, plus vertical integration, plus relentless execution, leads to a compounding cost advantage. What has changed is the scope of our ambition - this new capital, along with the team and capabilities we've built over the last three years, positions us to build technology across the electric stack, including what it takes to serve surging demand from AI, and to deepen our partnerships with utilities as they work to meet rising demands. Electricity is the largest and most essential industry in the world, and it does not have a defining technology company. The company that delivers the most affordable, reliable power will be one of the largest and most impactful companies in the world. We intend to build it. If you'd like to join us, reach out. Onwards.

$GLW Corning: The AI Optical Infrastructure Springboard Strategy. Investment Thesis. New: 6/29/26. Corning has repositioned a traditional materials manufacturer into a critical supplier at the physical layer of AI infrastructure — a transition that leverages decades of fiber optics and photonics expertise into a market where that expertise is now mission-critical rather than commoditized. High-density fiber and advanced photonics are the connectivity backbone that AI data centers require as networking bottlenecks become increasingly binding constraints on cluster performance, and Corning's manufacturing scale and materials science depth position it as one of the few suppliers capable of meeting that demand at the volumes hyperscalers require. The NVIDIA and Meta partnerships are significant validation points. Both represent demanding customers whose technical requirements and qualification standards are rigorous, and their direct engagement with Corning signals that the company's optical infrastructure capabilities are viewed as strategically necessary rather than substitutable. That kind of direct hyperscaler relationship is difficult for competitors to displace once established, given the integration depth required in data center network architecture planning. The Springboard strategy is the financial framework converting the AI infrastructure opportunity into demonstrated margin improvement. Operating margin expansion that has already materialized provides credibility to the more aggressive 2030 revenue growth targets — this is not a purely forward-looking narrative but one with a track record of execution behind it. That said, the distance between current results and the 2030 targets is substantial, and the growth trajectory assumes continued AI infrastructure capital spending at a pace that has historically been difficult to sustain without periodic digestion phases. Capital intensity is the structural constraint on returns during the buildout phase. Scaling fiber and photonics manufacturing capacity to meet AI-driven demand requires sustained capital deployment, and the return on that investment depends on demand durability matching the capacity being built. Customer concentration compounds that risk — significant revenue exposure to a small number of hyperscaler relationships means that any shift in AI infrastructure capital spending plans at a major customer would disproportionately affect Corning's growth trajectory relative to a more diversified customer base. The Solar business is a complicating factor that sits somewhat apart from the core AI optical infrastructure narrative. Scaling that segment successfully requires different operational capabilities and serves a different demand driver, and management attention split across a capital-intensive solar scale-up alongside the AI infrastructure buildout introduces execution complexity that pure-play AI infrastructure companies don't carry. The valuation reflects multiple years of anticipated growth, which means the premium is justified only if execution stays on pace with the Springboard targets and AI infrastructure capital spending remains robust through the multi-year buildout period the thesis depends on. Corning's market position is genuinely dominant in its core optical infrastructure niche — the question is whether that dominance, expressed through a still-developing financial trajectory, supports a price that has already captured much of the anticipated upside.

The Department of Energy has formally approved our Preliminary Documented Safety Analysis (PDSA) for the Mark-0 reactor—our first demonstration reactor, scheduled to go live before July 4, 2026. Mark-0 will validate fueling operations, reactor controls, and core physics. This demonstration is a critical step toward generating electricity from advanced microreactors. Mark-0 uses a full-scale core and the same facility and fuel that will support our next reactor test in 2027. The PDSA defines the preliminary safety basis for the reactor, facility, and planned operations, demonstrating that our approach meets DOE expectations at this stage. This approval validates our safety case and establishes a clear pathway to final acceptance as we prepare for fabrication, assembly, and installation. Mark-0 will be tested at Idaho National Laboratory in Building 793—now the Reactors and Critical Experiments facility—a site with deep nuclear history. Decades ago, this building housed ML-1, the Army’s first mobile nuclear reactor. Today, it supports the next generation of deployable nuclear power. We find the historical relevance fitting and inspiring, as Antares develops a similar-scale microreactor to meet Army operational and installation needs. Since 2024, we’ve worked to establish this facility as an enduring testbed, enabling rapid progress without the need for groundbreaking construction. We’re grateful for our partners at DOE and INL, and for leaders like Congressman Mike Simpson who continue to support the American nuclear renaissance.

We think it's safe to say that ShibChain has reached a major milestone. Its Layer 1 core network is fully integrated, and its bridge is ready for an independent security audit. We're not trying to compete with other blockchains, each of which has its own purpose and use cases. We wanted to build something from the ground up that puts community at the heart of the network. It isn't about how much wealth or computing power you have. It's about giving every person a meaningful way to contribute and be rewarded. ShibChain uses our own implementation of Proof of Participation. The idea behind it is not something I thought of. The person who inspired me to begin experimenting with it is blockchain expert Capodieci.eth - one of the smartest people I've had the chance to learn from. After 3 years of work, we've built two different versions from scratch: one entirely in Go and another in Swift. The next phase includes independent security audits, validator partnerships, stronger operational infrastructure, and preparations for a secure public mainnet launch. The core technology has reached the point where the challenge is no longer building the vision alone. It is now about bringing together the right partners, security experts, and funding to test ShibChain at scale and launch it responsibly. It has been a long day, so I'll share a full blog post soon covering the technology, what makes ShibChain different, and the roadmap ahead. For now, the important news is this: ShibChain is real. It's running. And it's ready for its next chapter. Although, after saying "ShibChain" this many times, I'm starting to think it might need a new name, maybe just Shiba. The Shiba blockchain. 😂

We are announcing our newest initiative: an interactive math engine by isaacmason. Math is core to everything interactive from geometry to collision to color, yet JavaScript lacks a high-performance kernel. Instead libraries reinvent math structures and transformations, with varying success, and now LLMs generate bespoke functions on a case by case basis. The problem is that there are no principled guarantees for correctness or performance leading to degraded apps or difficult to read code. We need math engine that can be used to power all the cool projects people want to make at scale! The goals of the initiative are ambitious: ⟡ Predictable performance. Allocation-free operations and a documented usage contract designed to preserve monomorphic, optimizable call sites, validated through reproducible benchmarks. ⟡ Portable. Efficiently interoperates with WebGL, WebGPU, Wasm, Three.js, etc., so that the handoff between math kernel and framework is simple. ⟡ Minimal. A lean, tree-shakable kernel containing only the primitives needed to build interactive algorithms. ⟡ Data-oriented. Operates on caller-owned data through data-in, data-out functions without owning the data lifecycle. ⟡ Readability. It is important the core math operations readable such that even if the code is not written by a person they can reasonably review it. isaacmason is bringing his experience building out navcat, crashcat and gpucat. We are starting with mathcat as the foundation and building from there. Stay tuned for more. 👉 Initiative: 👉 Join the convo on Discord:

Computing hardware architecture has evolved from maximizing single-core performance to multiplying parallel processing capacity through more cores, more threads, and higher computational density. This transition demands software architectures specifically designed to exploit parallel processing, especially in advanced AI and blockchain-based systems. As Greg Meredith, CEO of our partner F1R3FLY. io, notes, "We need software architectures that can eat physical threads of computation and turn that into throughput." Traditional sequential programming models often struggle to effectively leverage the potential of these multi-core systems, creating a bottleneck in performance scaling. Rholang addresses this challenge through its foundation in the Rho-Calculus, a reflective higher-order process calculus specifically designed for inherent concurrency and reflection. Unlike computational models based on sequential execution or those that bolt on concurrency primitives, Rholang can leverage its process-oriented nature to detect and distribute non-interfering logical computation threads across available physical processing units, creating a more direct correlation between hardware resources and performance scaling. The Rho-Calculus was specifically designed to provide the minimal set of operations needed to model autonomous agents operating in parallel while maintaining the ability to represent their own reasoning processes. This structure mirrors the operational characteristics of intelligent systems, where autonomous processes run independently while communicating and coordinating. For our novel decentralized AI platform, MeTTaCycle, this future-proof architectural foundation enables more than just enhanced transactional throughput; it fosters an environment where independent computational processes can efficiently coexist and interact, forming a critical layer for the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance's decentralized AGI infrastructure and products.

For most of my life, I assumed technology only moved in one direction: Faster, better, cheaper. Progress felt inevitable. But if you look at the industry that once embodied American ambition, that's not happening. Over the past 50 years, our ability to build large construction projects has not just stagnated, it has eroded. We built faster, better, and cheaper in the 1960s than we do today. What a shame. This is happening at the exact moment we need to build more than ever. More energy to win the AI race, more critical minerals to secure our supply chain, and more advanced manufacturing to reindustrialize. In the last decade, China built an order of magnitude more energy infrastructure than the US. This is not how we win. That is why we’re building Unlimited. We are an AI-native, vertically integrated construction company. We’ve raised a $12M seed round co-led by a16z (Katherine Boyle) and CIV (Abhijoy Mitra) to redefine how humanity builds. We’re going to automate construction end to end and ensure a future of radical physical abundance. A world where cities rise at the push of a button. Today we are designing and building $100M+ data centers, power plants, and mining facilities. Our AI platform compresses engineering timelines from months to days and delivers optimized designs that simply are not achievable through manual effort. The thing I am most proud of is the team we are building. A small, hyper talented group of multidisciplinary builders who work with intensity, care about craft, and genuinely give a shit. If you want to tackle problems that reshape the physical world and define the new playbook for how civilization builds in the decades ahead, reach out. We are hiring across mechanical, electrical, civil/structural, simulation, and software. We started the company earlier this year, raised money, built out the core technology and team, and kicked off our first real projects. And we’ve done it all under the radar until today. Excited to continue building the team that will build the future of our physical world. It's time to build. UNLIMITED

I'm incredibly proud to share that Alan is raising €480m (Series G), valuing the company at €5.5bn: the largest round in our history, led by Prosus Group , alongside our amazing long-term partners Teachers' Venture Growth and Index Ventures (Jan Hammer ), and new investor Dara Holdings. 🚀 Ten years ago we set out to do something simple and hard: turn healthcare from reactive to proactive. To build a partner that helps people act before a problem becomes a bigger problem: bringing insurance, prevention and care together in one experience. Because health can't wait. Today that conviction is no longer a bet. It's a model that works: → 1.1m+ members → €800m+ in ARR, growing 53% YoY → Profitable in France, live across France, Belgium, Spain and Canada So why raise now, and why Prosus? Because we're at the meeting point of two powerful forces: a company that has proven its model, and the leadership we are taking in AI for health. AI will make personalized prevention, navigation and support available to everyone, and that changes what's possible for the millions of people we can help. And I couldn't be more delighted to do this next chapter with the Prosus teams. Prosus is one of the world's great technology operators, with $100B+ under management and a track record of building category-defining consumer platforms across the globe. They came with deep conviction, a long-term horizon, and exactly the expertise we need now: international expansion, consumer products, AI infrastructure, and an ecosystem we can plug into. I have loved every single interaction with their team: Fabricio, Fahd, Makram, Denis, Helen, Euro and many others! It makes so much sense because we share the same belief: the future of health is built at the intersection of insurance, prevention, care and AI. Great health is a universal right and prevention should be too. This round gives us the means to move faster: expand to new countries, deepen our presence where we already are, invest even more in AI and product, and pursue the strategic opportunities ahead. To our members, our 850+ Alaners, and everyone who has believed in this mission:thank you. 🙏 We're still at the very beginning of what Alan can become. Prevention insurance is the category we're building. Let's make it the new global standard. If this is the kind of mission you want to spend your energy on, we're hiring. Come build it with us. 💙
