Watching my dads music be the foundation of Hip Hop and the tens of millions of dollars made from all these iconic records that were sampled go to two white families Who are the only two people invited to the auction of my father‘s writer shares for $50,000 was not only traumatic for my father but all of us as his kids. Those people build generational wealth off my father‘s intellectual property, and I never forget that to this day. One thing I can say about my father is he kept going, he kept moving forward with class and dignity, and those are the lessons that I learned about ownership and how you treat people. That’s why I’m so adamant about ownership because the tragedy and the robbery of my dad‘s wealth still sits with me even years after his death. My father should still be here, he should have been able to sit at home and play with and raise his son, my little brother and be with his grandchildren but because he continued to tour and work he had a stroke, and then ultimately died of a heart attack.
