American Airlines Flight 5342 Crash update: On January 29, the Black Hawk crew did not execute visual separation effectively as per a report by New York Times. It has been revealed that the pilot flying the Black Hawk that crashed into a plane, claiming the lives of 67 people, repeatedly ignored commands to lower her altitude and a final order to turn left, which would have avoided the collision. The pilot who was flying was given multiple warnings and was directly told by her instructor/copilot to turn the opposite direction of the passenger jet to avoid a collision. She didn’t listen “Not only was the Black Hawk flying too high, but in the final seconds before the crash, the pilot (flying) failed to heed a directive from her co-pilot, an Army flight instructor, to change course.” The report also puts blame on the air traffic controller for not being clear and urgent enough. “He told her he believed that air traffic control wanted them to turn left, toward the east riverbank.” “Turning left would have opened up more space between the helicopter and Flight 5342, which was heading for Runway 33 at an altitude of roughly 300 feet. Clas Svahn just got access to incredibly sensitive Swedish DoD archives and one of the first things he pulls is an incredible 1970s UFO report. A helicopter pilot is ordered to lift and intercept an object coming in from Norway at night. He’s “twenty meters over the treetops” in moonlight over snow with clear visibility. Then an object flies under the helicopter, over the treetops, with “a small passage of twenty meters” in front of them. It was “an elongated rocket like thing with no wings, no lights, nothing” and it just disappears. The pilot said, “I lifted my feet because it was so near our helicopter.” This is an incredible interview from start to finish. Its out now for members and goes live for the public tomorrow.

This gentleman was flying Delta and was removed from the plane because he was wearing a Maga hat. The flight attendant told him to remove it so he did, but subsequently there were a few people around him that just wanted him to put it back on quickly so that they could take a picture of him.. which he did. As soon as he did that he was removed from the plane. He was marched in front of a lot of other people and embarrassed, and then the captain had a private conversation with him. The excuse the pilot gave him was absolute utter BS. You may disagree with me on that. The man was kicked off the flight and he now has an ongoing lawsuit with Delta Airlines. I hope he wins.

ALERT: Hot air balloon crashes into the side of a casino as strong winds forced an unplanned launch in Northern California. Elk Grove police said the pilot, who was the only person on board, took off from Sky River Casino around noon due to extremely strong winds, crashed into the side of the building, before hitting a power line, and finally landed in a field across the highway. In a nationwide first, a drone was successfully used to disarm an armed suspect, helping bring the incident to a safe resolution. Sacramento Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail (SWAT) had the residence surrounded. The known felon and Parolee-At-Large was seen earlier with a firearm. After not responding to negotiators, a drone was deployed inside the residence. Drone pilots located the suspect hiding in a corner of a garage. One of his hands was concealed under his body, and the other was holding a knife. He was obviously alive, but not responding. Was he pretending to be dead or simply lying in wait for deputies to approach? Rather than rush into a potentially deadly encounter, one drone pilot came up with an innovative solution. By attaching a powerful magnet to the drone, the pilot was able to safely remove the knife from the suspect’s hand before deputies moved in. It was an incredible display of creativity, skill, and precision by the drone pilot. It’s also worth noting that our drones are labeled as “military equipment” (even though anyone can purchase them at their local Walmart), but are really just another piece of technology helping deputies resolve dangerous situations safely. Their use protects both law enforcement personnel and suspects.

Last year we saw Jim Gavin fly a drone in a red zone ⛔️ now we see a pilot operating over the crown on Achil island yesterday as Sam was brought across the bridge from the mainland. The drone hovers over the heads of hundreds of people including the cup itself and the Gardai. The IAA define a crowd as 13 people who have to be able to move, to avoid the drone if it falls. Does the drone pilot have an operator i.d ? Did he ask the consent of the crowd ? Does he have insurance ? Did he keep that drone in visual line of sight at all times ? Seems its one rule for them and one rule for us again. Up Mayo.

A pilot put a passenger jet down on a river and got every person on board off alive. Within days, investigators were asking him what he had eaten for lunch. He told them a tuna sandwich. Then they asked whether he had had a candy bar. Whether he had had a soda. That is not small talk. There is a precise reason those 2 questions could have ended his career, and Tom Hanks lays it out in about 4 sentences. The pilot is Chesley Sullenberger. Hanks played him, spent time with him first, and says the man walked him through the entire script telling him which parts never happened. As Hanks was told it, the stake was money. If the board could establish that the pilot did 1 thing wrong, the insurance on an airplane he puts at 17 million dollars would not have to be paid out. Every question in that room was built for that. It went on for the better part of a year. In the film it takes days, because films cannot afford a year. What was happening to him has a name in psychology. Baruch Fischhoff described it in 1975 and called it creeping determinism. Once you know how something ended, the ending looks like it was always coming, and every road you did not take looks like it was sitting right there, clearly marked, the whole time. Which is why the question "why did you not do this instead" is close to unanswerable. It is asked by people who know the ending, to a person who did not have it. There is a second effect underneath, well documented in aviation and in medicine. The person at the centre of the investigation frequently comes out of it in worse condition than the people he saved. Researchers gave that person a name. He is the second victim. Hanks is 67 when he says this, and what he admires is not the landing. A pilot put a passenger jet down on a river and got every person on board off alive. Within days, investigators were asking him what he had eaten for lunch. He told them a tuna sandwich. Then they asked whether he had had a candy bar. Whether he had had a soda. That is not small talk. There is a precise reason those 2 questions could have ended his career, and Tom Hanks lays it out in about 4 sentences. The pilot is Chesley Sullenberger. Hanks played him, spent time with him first, and says the man walked him through the entire script telling him which parts never happened. As Hanks was told it, the stake was money. If the board could establish that the pilot did 1 thing wrong, the insurance on an airplane he puts at 17 million dollars would not have to be paid out. Every question in that room was built for that. It went on for the better part of a year. In the film it takes days, because films cannot afford a year. What was happening to him has a name in psychology. Baruch Fischhoff described it in 1975 and called it creeping determinism. Once you know how something ended, the ending looks like it was always coming, and every road you did not take looks like it was sitting right there, clearly marked, the whole time. Which is why the question "why did you not do this instead" is close to unanswerable. It is asked by people who know the ending, to a person who did not have it. There is a second effect underneath, well documented in aviation and in medicine. The person at the centre of the investigation frequently comes out of it in worse condition than the people he saved. Researchers gave that person a name. He is the second victim. Hanks is 67 when he says this, and what he admires is not the landing. It is a distinction he makes in 1 sentence near the end, and it is the whole reason he told the story at all. He saved everyone on that plane. I listened to to enough of Bret Weinstein’s podcast. Much like with “nobody died at Sandy Hook”, there is a difference between valid skepticism, and entertaining fantasy and delusions. First,: Cullen initially categorically asserted that Charlie was shot from the front at 143 yards. Yes, you can reassess your position as new information comes in. But if you come to conclusions too quickly, and continually need to revise those statements, something is off in your process. Second: this armed drone hypothesis is not science. It is fantasy that requires suspending disbelief. Now, the “hypothesis” is that the shot came from a military drone at 330 yards, at a 10° angle. In order to make that square peg fit in the circle, the rifle now needs to be suppressed. At 330 yards and a 10° angle, the drone would be at roughly 170 feet. At 330 yards from where Charlie was shot, it’s buildings, presumably reasonable traffic at lunchtime on a school day. Did anyone report hearing a gunshot from the science building? Suppressed or not, people would probably hear a gunshot at 170 feet. Did anybody report seeing or hearing a 6-prop drone that would be roughly the size of the hood of a Honda Civic flying over those buildings? Even if you suppress a rifle, a drone that size would cause a commotion. Heck, a DJI spark is loud enough that people can hear it at 200 feet. This is not science. This is fantasy for the purposes of entertaining people’s delusions. And like with Sandy Hook, if people take some of these insane theories too far, it will cause lasting damage to their reputation. I respect Bret. But as Carl Sagan said: It pays to keep an open mind, but not so open your brains fall out.

Air China A350 on the flare,gear down, nose high, everything looks normal....then it just kept floating. It floated a few feet above the runway for what felt like forever, I even thought it was going to do a Go-around. By the time the mains finally touched down, it was a long way down the runway. Not dangerous, just one of the longest hold-offs I’ve watched. Usually that means a bit of extra speed over the threshold, a gusty headwind, or a pilot chasing a smooth touchdown and holding the nose up a little too long. Great to watch, though.
