Had the same experience about 2 months ago downtown in Chicago… Just a horrible sound, you can feel it! Except I got a flat with the Model X… got some air into it, enough to drive a few miles. The team at Tesla Elston ave in Chicago took care of it right away… very grateful

Bent rim might be the damage. Check for alignment as well.

I hit a 12 quart pot once. The entire casing under the car is scraped and some dents. It was either take a ditch, hit a bus or hit the pot.

Back in the FSD v13 days there was a bad pothole on the way to the supermarket nearby, and a couple of times FSD went right into it. It made a really awful sound when it did. Not high speed or anything, just like it scraped something. I was surprised that I never actually noticed any damage. I consider myself lucky! Which reminds me: that little rear-ending I got last year coming back from the Denver Tesla Club events--just last week I finally got my deductible back. Nearly a year for my insurance to subrogate the claim through arbitration with the offender's evil insurance company. And that's with Tesla's video and supporting photos.

I live in North New Jersey and potholes are everywhere. It ruins my experience with self-driving. I can't relax, I have to look out and at times steer away from the potholes.
