VIDEO CIRCULATING OF SUSPECTS ARRESTED MADE AT MALL OF AFRICA Three suspects linked to taxi violence related murders in East London have been arrested by a special task team assigned to prevent, combat and investigate serious and violent crime in the Eastern Cape. The murders are believed to have taken place between November 2023 and August 2024 in which two taxi owners, a taxi driver and a member of a taxi association were gunned down. Two of the suspects were arrested at Mall of Africa in Midrand, Johannesburg on Friday, 08 November 2024, while another one was arrested in East London on Saturday, 09 November 2024. Four other suspects that are also seen in this video have been taken in for questioning by SAPS. Police have seized four pistols and an AK47 from the suspects. These firearms and rifle have been taken in for ballistics testing to determine their linkage to the murders and any other serious and violent crime. This matter is still under investigation and police will not comment further.

U.S. Marshals have arrested 35-year-old Dante Abdul Malik on charges of hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence. Abdul Malik is the stepfather of 16-year-old Azzubair Outen-Fleming, who was arrested in connection with the fatal June 6 shooting. Another suspect, 16-year-old Kaiseem Smith, is still being sought. Both 16-year-old suspects are facing murder charges. Police name 2 suspects wanted in killing of Penn State student Billy Schmidt Surveillance video captured the moments leading up to the shooting, according to investigators. Authorities allege the suspects stole Schmidt's cellphone on the 1900 block of Durfor Street on June 6. As Schmidt chased after the suspects, one of them turned and shot the Penn State senior in the chest. Schmidt was pronounced dead a short time later.

Last week, APD officers tracking a stolen vehicle were attacked by several minor-aged criminal offenders. More than 20 rounds of gunfire were fired at our officers, prompting a multi-jurisdictional pursuit that traveled through portions of Aurora and Denver. Today, we are sharing some of the body-worn camera video from the incident. The Aurora Police Department commends the actions of our officers, as well as our partners from the Denver Police Department, who displayed the utmost poise and professionalism while responding without hesitation to a violent and life-threatening situation. Ultimately, four teenage suspects were taken into custody without a use of force. Several firearms believed to be used in the attack on our officers were also recovered. The suspects, aged 15 and 16, are not being identified because they are minors. They all have now been formally charged with two counts each of attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer, and one count each of aggravated motor vehicle theft and second-degree burglary, among other charges. #CommunityCommitment #APDInAction
