@SecDef Ukraine needs to be able to defend itself as it sees fit. What sort of rule is it that does not allow an invaded country to fight back the invader in its own country. Ridiculous. Thank God this admin was not in power during WWII. Timidity is shameful.

During our talks, we discussed the challenges facing Ukraine and all of Europe, coordination with partners, concrete steps to strengthen Ukraine’s position, and ending the war with a just peace, along with robust security guarantees. A principled statement of support from the Prime Minister and an important decision: today, in our presence, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a Loan Agreement. This loan will enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and will be repaid using revenues from frozen Russian assets. The funds will be directed toward weapons production in Ukraine. This is true justice – the one who started the war must be the one to pay. I thank the people and government of the United Kingdom for their tremendous support from the very beginning of this war. This week saw the #EUCO decision to open Ukraine’s EU accession talks. We worked actively for it all year. In the coming days, Ukraine and the European Commission will formally begin the screening process to assess the correspondence of Ukrainian legislation with EU legislation. We are also preparing for the work on Ukraine’s negotiation framework, which we expect to be adopted in the spring. The negotiation process will not be easy, but the important thing is that we already have historical certainty: Ukraine will always be part of our common European home. Myth: The President of the United States has limited power to order layoffs due to 5 USC § 7513a, which creates a for-cause requirement for firings. Truth: “Reductions in force” are not covered by for-cause requirements. 5 U.S. Code § 3502 expressly states that “reductions in force” are subject only to 60-day notice requirements and order-of-retention rules. The power to prescribe the “reduction in force” rules governing the “reductions in force” rest with the Office Personnel Management (OPM), and the current OPM rules give the power to effect “reductions in force” to agency heads. I will appoint agency heads who will execute large “reductions in force.” If agency heads do not cooperate, 5 U.S. Code § 3302 empowers the President to override the OPM rules and drive the reductions in force directly. Note that the U.S. President is not an agency and thus not covered by the Administrative Procedures Act.

You cannot have a free and open society with the warrantless spying of Americans. Today, the bipartisan vote to force intelligence communities to get a warrant was lost by one vote. In an effort to stop this, I requested a rare procedural maneuver that will force a second vote on Monday. Hopefully we can change minds. I will be writing all 435 members over the weekend. Please help me. Talk to your reps. We have one last shot at this.

To the brainless opposition, the governance challenges at the Nairobi Hospital were nothing more than an opportunity to scavenge for cheap headlines and attention. But as Patron of this institution, I will not stand by and watch fraudsters, charlatans, and conmen drag down one of the premier hospitals in this region. The con artists will swiftly face the full force of the law. This institution was built on integrity, service, and excellence; values that will not be compromised by opportunists and self-serving interests. Sanity shall be restored, order will prevail, and the right thing will be done; decisively and without hesitation.
