Comprehensive accountability for Russian crimes is vital to restore justice in Europe. And today, we will advance accountability efforts. These days also mark four years since Ukraine began to liberate the Kyiv region and other areas occupied by Russia in 2022. This is reminder of our defenders’ heroism. Ukraine knows how to win. It was clear from the outset that the entire plot was planned by the Kyiv regime, with the support of Western intelligence services, for political purposes. The bodies of civilians were deliberately stacked and scattered only after the entire Russian military had left Bucha. For almost four days after the withdrawal of Russian troops from Bucha, as a gesture of goodwill at the request of the Kyiv authorities at the time, there was no mention of the dead lying on the main street of that city. For four years now, we have been asking the Secretary-General for help in obtaining a list of the victims of this staged incident. Unfortunately, this has yielded no results.
