The Vampire truck system fires the APKWS missile costs roughly US$22,000 to US$35,000 in U.S, probably cost Ukraine US$3,000 to be manufactured in Ukraine

🤖 Ukraine has shot down a jet-powered Geran-5 drone using a robotic turret for the first time The claim was made by Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat. The turrets use machine vision and AI-assisted targeting to calculate a drone’s trajectory and aim the weapon. Ihnat said he had initially been skeptical that a machine-gun system could effectively engage such fast targets. For now, the main limitation is its relatively short range. The day before, Zelensky said more than 12 such turrets have already been deployed in Kyiv, including to protect bridges, with another eight planned for the Kyiv region. The systems are automated mounts equipped with heavy machine guns.

Zelensky says Russia launched almost 1,500 drones of all types against Ukraine in four days, around 800 of them jet-powered. He says jet-powered Shaheds are the hardest to intercept and combat aircraft currently carry most of that burden. Four companies have developed interceptor drones, with one technology described as the most successful. Ukraine aims to push the interception rate well above 90% this fall. #Ukraine

Ukraine’s first jet-powered interceptor drones are undergoing combat testing as Russia gradually replaces conventional Shaheds with faster jet-powered variants, former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov says. Several Ukrainian manufacturers have developed solutions. One interceptor uses a jet engine to reach more than 600 km/h and is now being tested in combat conditions, with Ukraine awaiting its first confirmed interceptions. #Ukraine

Zelensky said more than 100 children and 60 teachers were in a shelter when a Russian Shahed struck their Kyiv school this morning. Everyone survived, and he credited the school staff’s actions with saving lives. Zelensky ordered the school’s rapid restoration and measures to ensure its energy independence, while saying Ukraine is strengthening air defenses and expanding production of interceptors against jet-powered Shaheds. #Ukraine

Since the beginning of this year, Russia has already used more than 2,100 missiles of different types against Ukraine. More than 950 of them were ballistic missiles. In 8 months of this year, Russia used 63,000 attack drones of different types against Ukraine. And more than 7,700 of them were jet-powered “shaheds” – truly destructive and dangerous weapons… Would your country survive if, God forbid, you had to face something like this? Ukraine has. Russia is terrorizing Kyiv with jet-powered drones as part of a new air blitz. The change in tactics is disrupting life much more in Ukraine’s capital, as Russia launches continuous day-time attacks with the drones that are far harder to shoot down. @ReevellP reports.

Thanks to Ukrainian pilots, dozens of jet-powered Shaheds have already been intercepted by interceptor STING drones 🚀 However, russia plans to increase the share of jet-powered Shaheds to 50% of all Shahed deployments. This marks another shift in enemy tactics and a new challenge for Ukraine’s air defense. Wild Hornets, together with Ukrainian servicemen, is already working on the solution — STING 2.0. Stay tuned. Ukraine’s Horizon Group air-defense crews of the 81st Airmobile Brigade destroyed three jet-powered Shahed drones. The unit says these faster variants now make up to 20% of the Shaheds used in attacks and can reach their targets up to four times faster than conventional models. The brigade says the growing use of jet-powered drones is creating new challenges for Ukrainian air defenses. #Ukraine

🔥 Ukraine shoots down Russian “Geran-3” drones with a new interceptor — first footage The debut of the Ukrainian-made Sting drone proved to be highly successful. On November 30, the Stings destroyed several Russian jet-powered “Geran-3” drones. These drones are faster than the regular “Geran” models and more maneuverable, designed to break through air defenses. Russia has been using “Geran-3” in strike packages since the summer of 2025. Now Ukraine has a tool capable of disrupting this tactic.

Russia is reportedly developing cheap jet-powered missiles for more frequent strikes on Ukraine, according to Serhii Beskrestnov, an adviser to Ukraine's defense minister. The concept would combine speeds closer to conventional cruise missiles with lower costs, smaller warheads and larger production volumes. Ukraine is also developing jet-powered interceptor drones expected to engage targets traveling around 400-600 km/h, with cheap interceptor missiles such as APKWS potentially needed afterward. #Ukraine

A very interesting turn of events in the air war. Russian Geran jet drones have dramatically increased their speed, rendering previous interception systems ineffective. Former CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt and the Ukrainian military are now openly admitting that there is no ready-made solution to reliably close off Ukraine’s airspace. NATO’s air defence systems in Ukraine are operating continuously but are unable to cope with Russia’s new jet-powered drones. Kyiv’s allies are speaking ever more loudly about the catastrophic state of affairs. NATO simply has no defence against the Geran and that is by no means the only problem Kyiv is facing. #russia #ukraine #drone #drones #kyiv #geran
