An interesting video was published by the Ukrainian Air Force Command. The footage shows the repulsion of a Russian air attack on Ukraine on February 7. Among the scenes are launches of air-defense missiles, apparently fired from something resembling a container-based launcher. However, the video does not allow a direct or definitive identification of the system shown, so it cannot be stated with certainty that this is the same platform. That said, it is possible that this is the first publicly released video showing the operation of the British Gravehawk air-defense system in Ukraine. According to statements from the United Kingdom, Ukraine received two prototype units of this air-defense system at the beginning of this year. The system itself was first unveiled almost exactly a year ago.

Reuters filmed a crew from the 1030th Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery Regiment “Aquila” of the 3rd Army Corps operating the system. According to crew commander Bohdan Hontash, the system entered service relatively recently, has already completed field and combat testing, and has scored a number of successful interceptions over the past few months. The new air defense system is especially relevant now: according to Ukrainian military data reviewed by Reuters, Russia increased its use of jet-powered Shahed drones roughly sixfold over the three summer months. These drones can reach speeds of more than 400 km/h, making them significantly harder to intercept.
