🇸🇪🇺🇦 Fedorov: Modern Gripen fighters, air defense missiles and defense tech — expanding defense partnership with Sweden. Held a meeting with Swedish Defense Minister. One of the key advantages of Gripen is the ability to use Meteor missiles. A separate focus is air defense. Sweden has already allocated about $500 million to the PURL mechanism. Another important area of our cooperation is the development of middle- and deep strike capabilities.

🇺🇦"UKRAINE TO RECEIVE SWEDISH GRIPEN FIGHTER JETS" Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, confirmed that Swedish-made Gripen fighter jets are now part of the expected Western aircraft supply to Ukraine. The JAS-39 Gripen is considered a perfect fit for Ukraine due to its design for dispersed operations, including the ability to land on short, improvised runways like roads, minimizing the impact of Russian attacks on airfields. Sweden developed the Gripen with a design philosophy and operational tactics against potential Russian aggression, making it highly suitable for the current conflict in Ukraine.

❗️🇸🇪🇺🇦 Ukraine will receive air defense systems from Sweden, including Saab radar stations, electronic warfare systems, and drones, some of them with long-range strike capabilities. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov discussed countering ballistic threats through the PURL framework with Sweden’s defense minister, as well as the launch of the Brave–Sweden program focused on defense innovation. The sides also discussed the potential delivery of JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets and the transfer of Meteor air-to-air missiles. These missiles would represent a major enhancement to Ukraine’s long-range air combat capabilities, with an operational range starting from around 160 kilometers, and are considered a key tool for countering aircraft that carry guided aerial bombs. 🇸🇪🇺🇦 Zelensky and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson have signed an agreement for Ukraine to purchase up to 150 Swedish Gripen fighter jets. “This will be the largest defense contract in Sweden’s history,” Kristersson said at a press conference. In reality, the deal is little more than words on paper — but Zelensky has already claimed that Ukraine expects to receive the first aircraft next year.

Together with Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Maria M Stenergard, we discussed joint defense projects and the needs of our warriors. She is in Uzhhorod today, and this is already her second visit to Ukraine. I am grateful for her personal support of our state. We spoke in detail about further assistance to Ukraine, the preparation of a new defense package, the PURL initiative, the protection of Ukraine’s skies, investments in Ukrainian drone production, and the prospects for joint defense projects. I am grateful to the people of Sweden, the government, and the Prime Minister for supporting our nation from the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

🇺🇦🚀 “The Ukrainian ballistic missile will soon be ready and it will strike Russia. The appearance of Ukrainian ballistics will change Ukraine’s status in the world,” — Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. 🗣️ According to him, Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure have no impact on the situation at the front or the pace of weapons production. He described these strikes solely as “an instrument of moral pressure.” Fedorov’s statement underscores Ukraine’s confidence in its rapidly developing long-range strike capabilities. The imminent arrival of domestically produced ballistic missiles will significantly enhance Ukraine’s ability to deter and respond to Russian aggression, shifting the strategic balance. At the same time, the acknowledgment of Russian strikes as primarily psychological highlights Ukraine’s growing resilience and determination to continue the fight regardless of terror tactics. 🇺🇦🇩🇪 Based on combat experience in Ukraine, the German company Stark is upgrading its loitering munition Virtus, which is actively used by subunits of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces. 🔻 According to data published by the company, the updated Virtus now has a flight range of up to 130 km (30 km more than the previous version). Its loitering time has increased from 60 to 90 minutes, and its warhead is capable of penetrating armor up to 800 mm thick. This is another clear example of how Ukraine’s battlefield experience is driving rapid improvements in Western weapons. The enhanced Virtus will become a more effective and dangerous tool for striking Russian logistics, command posts, and armored vehicles at greater distances. Video is generated by grok AI
