He was taken to a mock execution and told to say goodbye to his family — after which his captors laughed. Serhii was tortured with electrical shocks and beaten because his wife worked in a job connected to culture. During his captivity, he lost 26 kilograms. Due to beatings and starvation, he could no longer walk and lost his eyesight. In captivity, he thought about the day he would once again wear his military uniform. After rehabilitation, he returned to service.
