🚨 Ukrainian forces launch an offensive — Russian war bloggers are already warning of cascading consequences Ukrainian troops have launched counterattacks east of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), after months of preparation, Ukrainian forces have advanced near Ozerne, Pyskunivka and Rai-Oleksandrivka,... pushed Russian troops out of Pyskunivka and crossed the Siverskyi Donets River. ISW notes that Ukrainian units appear to have pushed Russian forces back from both banks of the river in this sector. If the counterattacks continue, they could seriously complicate Russia's offensive against the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk urban area. Russian military bloggers acknowledge that advancing toward Sloviansk has now become a much more distant prospect, while an offensive from the Siversk area could end either in failure or heavy losses.show more

That's the area Russia has been hammering from the air: a glide bomb on a Kramatorsk bus stop killed 33 this week, and Kramatorsk and Sloviansk suspended all public transport. Mapped here (earlier, 8 Oct):

❗️❗️🇺🇦⚡️🇷🇺 Ukrainian forces have launched localized counterattacks across three sectors of the front, pushing Russian troops back and recovering positions in several areas. Recent battlefield assessments have also recorded Ukrainian localized advances on multiple axes, even as Russian forces continue offensive operations elsewhere. On the Kupyansk axis, Ukrainian forces have liberated the northern part of Zapadne and advanced north of Kupyansk, southwest of Dvorichna. Elsewhere, Ukrainian troops have reportedly liberated Katerynivka and Nove, advanced east of Novomykhailivka and continue to hold Novyi Myr. Ukrainian forces also launched a counterattack yesterday along the Ridkodub-Nove sector, attacking Russian positions from the north in an effort to contain further Russian advances. These actions remain localized rather than a full-scale Ukrainian offensive, but the broader pattern is increasingly important: Kyiv is exploiting sectors where Russian forces are stretched thin to regain tactical initiative and force Moscow to react rather than advance uninterrupted. Earlier Ukrainian counterattacks have already forced Russia to redistribute forces between sectors, illustrating the pressure that even limited Ukrainian gains can create on Moscow’s constrained reserves.

‼️‼️🇺🇦 BIG | Ukrainian forces are pushing back across several sectors at once, recording fresh advances in Kharkiv, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions as Russian troops struggle to convert months of pressure into decisive operational gains. According to the Institute for the Study of War, Ukrainian troops have recently improved their positions in northern Kharkiv Oblast while continuing counterattacks around Borova. In Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian forces have advanced on the Sloviansk axis, including territory around the approaches northwest of Lyman, while further south Ukrainian units have also gained ground in the Novopavlivka and Oleksandrivka directions, including areas west of the Russian penetration toward Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. These advances do not yet amount to a large-scale Ukrainian breakthrough, but their geographic spread matters. Ukraine is forcing Russia to defend and reinforce several widely separated sectors while Moscow is still trying to sustain offensive pressure toward the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk belt and deeper into the Dnipropetrovsk direction. If Kyiv can keep generating localized counterattacks while degrading Russian logistics and assault formations, it can increasingly disrupt Moscow’s timetable and deny Russia the operational momentum the Kremlin needs before the end of 2026. 🇺🇦⚔️🇷🇺 Ukrainian forces have pushed Russian troops out of Serednie and Shandryholove on the Lyman axis, marking another Ukrainian tactical success in a sector Moscow has treated as one of its priority avenues of advance. Both settlements lie on the approaches northwest of Lyman, where Russian forces have repeatedly attempted to break Ukrainian defenses and improve their positions for further movement toward the city. Earlier battlefield reporting had identified Serednie and Shandryholove as active areas of Russian offensive operations on this axis. Together with Ukraine’s recent localized gains elsewhere around Lyman, the development indicates growing pressure on Russian forward positions. These are still tactical counterattacks rather than a large-scale Ukrainian offensive, but systematically pushing Russian forces back on this axis matters strategically: Moscow’s northern approach toward the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk defensive belt becomes increasingly difficult if it cannot maintain momentum around Lyman.

🚨🇺🇦 Ukrainian forces have advanced south of Markove on the Kramatorsk axis. The gain improves Ukraine’s local tactical position in a sector where Russian forces have continued pressing toward the Kramatorsk-Sloviansk defensive area. 🔥 Even a limited advance here matters because it helps widen the buffer around key Ukrainian positions and complicates Russian efforts to build momentum toward one of the most important defensive hubs in northern Donetsk Oblast.

🔥 Ukrainian forces have launched an offensive in northern Donetsk region Andriy Biletskyi, commander of the Third Army Corps, announced the start of an offensive operation codenamed “Vivaldi.” Ukrainian forces have already cleared Novoselivka, Oleksandrivka, Yarova and the area around Korovyi Yar, and also liberated Serednie. According to Biletskyi, Ukrainian troops have cleared 75 km² of territory and de-occupied another 10 km². Looks like even reinforcements in the form of Dmitry Donskoy’s relics didn’t help the Russian forces 🤣🤣🤣

Russia 🇷🇺 launched a strike against a dam on the Siverski Donets river north of Sloviansk This is significant, because its the 4th strike on a dam in a matter of weeks in this area. This, coupled with the intensification of russian strikes in the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk region indicates the offensive is starting. This offensive is already ongoing in Kostiantynivka and Siversk and is intensifying on Lyman. I will analyse everything tomorrow with the units engaged, the russian strategy, the pre-offensive strikes and the overall strategic situation.

🇺🇦⚔️🇷🇺 Ukrainian forces have liberated Novoselivka on the Lyman axis, delivering another localized setback to Russian troops in one of Moscow’s priority offensive sectors. Fighting around Novoselivka has been intense for months as Russian forces attempted to expand their positions toward Lyman. The liberation follows recent Ukrainian successes around Drobysheve and indicates that Ukrainian forces are increasingly capable of counterattacking on this sector rather than simply containing Russian assaults. The Lyman axis remains strategically important because it provides one of the northern approaches toward the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk defensive belt. These remain tactical gains rather than a large-scale Ukrainian offensive, but the emerging pattern matters: every settlement recovered around Lyman pushes Russian forces farther from their operational objective and forces Moscow to spend additional manpower merely to recover positions it had already fought to obtain.

🇺🇦⚡️🇷🇺 Ukrainian forces have advanced inside Kostiantynivka, regaining positions along Yemelianova Street as intense fighting continues for one of the most important Ukrainian strongholds in the Donetsk region. The advance comes amid continued heavy fighting in and around Kostiantynivka, where Ukrainian forces are attempting to contain Russian pressure and recover positions through localized counterattacks. The city remains strategically important as part of the defensive approaches toward the wider Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. Even limited Ukrainian gains inside Kostiantynivka matter given the intensity of Russia’s offensive effort on this axis. Holding the city and forcing Russian forces to fight for individual positions slows Moscow’s attempt to push deeper toward Ukraine’s remaining major defensive centers in Donetsk.

🚨🇺🇦 Ukrainian forces have liberated Yurkivka on the Sloviansk axis. The gain improves Ukraine’s local position in northern Donetsk Oblast and pushes Russian forces back from another point on the approaches to the Sloviansk defensive area. 🔥 In a sector where every village can shape access routes and defensive depth, retaking Yurkivka is another useful step toward stabilizing the northern Donbas front and complicating further Russian pressure toward Sloviansk.

Encircled in Kupyansk, the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants have begun to surrender !!!!! A group of 12 people reported their readiness to surrender in exchange for life guarantees. Currently, options for their safe withdrawal are being worked out, the Russian Ministry of Defense reports. Thousands more are expected !!!!!!! Could be even bigger than Mariupols mass surrender! >> Meanwhile, the destruction of those Ukrainian formations that continue to resist the Russian Armed Forces in the Kupyansk area continues. Fighters of the "West" have thwarted two unsuccessful attempts by units of the 92nd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to launch counterattacks from the settlements of Nechvolodovka and Moskovka in the Kharkiv region to unblock the encircled Ukrainian Armed Forces formations east of Kupyansk.
