The pump feels like growth. The pump is water, gone by lunchtime. Soreness feels like progress. Soreness is damage, and damage was never the goal. Failure feels productive. Failure mostly buys fatigue you pay for tomorrow. More sets feels like more muscle. Past a point, more sets is just more tired. The slow negative feels hardcore. The Chief Rabbi of Ukraine has come out in defense of neo-Nazis who were making Nazi salutes in central Kyiv. The thing is, it was Korchynskyi’s Brotherhood. I know members of Korchynskyi’s Brotherhood. They are marginals and the lowest of the low, some of whom consider themselves Aryans, hate Jews, hate Roma, and hate everyone. At the same time, Ukraine’s Chief Rabbi has defended neo-Nazis more than once. I think Korchynskyi’s numerous statements- that Jews were responsible for the Holocaust, that Ukrainians have no need to apologize for Babyn Yar, and that Jews are, by definition, stupid-would be of great interest to millions of Jews. And if you had sent such a Chief Rabbi of Ukraine to Kyiv in, say, 1942, he would probably have claimed that Babyn Yar had been invented by the communists. I think Israel should finally do something about this most vivid representative of the “I see nothing, I hear nothing, it’s all not so clear-cut, there are no Nazis in Ukraine” mindset. Such are so called human beings and all are on the same page with this approach of kicking, hitting, and ganging up on an poor innocent defenceless dog. It seems like it has become a part of our culture to hit, kick and shoo away dogs and other animals💔. Nothing humane about this. One guy in the video literally hits the dog hard with his hand making him fall. When will we learn to respect other beings ? Couldn’t a more patient and kind approach be used? Such a shame that so many cases of heinous animal cruelty take place in our country day after day when we should be practising Ahimsa like we claim. It feels like as if hitting animals and animal cruelty has become our national sport. For international viewers, I’ve talked about Thai pronouns in this series several times, so I won’t go into too much detail again. But there’s something in the preview that’s worth pointing out. In the next episode, Tinnakorn calls Phop “คุณ” (khun), a formal and emotionally distant way of addressing someone. It’s the same pronoun Tin used with Phop in EP3 and EP4, after they reunited but before their relationship had found its footing. After that, Tin never used it with Phop again. And at the end of EP8, when Tinnakorn meets Phop again at his workplace, he calls him “ร้อยเอกภพธีร์” (Captain Phopthee). This is especially interesting because “Captain Phopthee” is also the way Tinnakorn’s father has addressed Phop ever since he became a soldier, not as a respectful title, but with a slightly mocking, dismissive tone. So hearing Tinnakorn use the same form of address feels significant. It’s formal, distant, and completely stripped of the intimacy we’ve seen between them. And once again, this is something the subtitles may not fully convey.
