For the people who think collecting toys or comics or whatever as an adult is silly, let me explain. I'm 41. By the time I was 38, I had lost my Mother, Father, Grandfather, Grandmother, two Uncles and both of my childhood best friends. Shut up and let me have my toys!
I loved Legos ever since I was little and I have always wanted a the Modular Lego Set. They were "The Holy Grail of lego sets" to little me but they were to expensive. When I started working, the first thing I bought was a Lego Modular set and now I have a little city of my own.
When I was a child, my mother was atrocious with me. One of the most personally despicable things she did, is to take my plushies away, and give them to her affair's children. Then she never let me get any more plushies. Now, thanks to my followers and friends, I can have this.
I too am not an adult but a child with access to adult money 😬
@tashalharrison Meanwhile the Silent and Boomer generation had their WWII memorabilia, model train sets, ships in a bottle, rebuilt antique/classic cars, dollhouse miniatures and porcelain dolls, acting like these are appropriate "mature" hobbies, and not at all rooted in childhood desires.
Yeah, I grew up with holes in my shoes, clothes that didn't fit, and games were soooo out of the question. But oh boy, riding in the car every payday to all of the local gas stations to buy lottery tickets sure was a childhood highlight 🙃 Guess who's never bought lottery.
@Lilah01 Exactly this! My parents were never home & I was 5-7 years older than my siblings. I appreciated my folks working to provide for us, but they never understood or asked about my interests. Now as an adult I buy things I wanted.
Hearin "grow up" since you were a kid, youre gonna make time for childish things at some point and now they cant stop you.
tfw my partners had to literally bully me into buying the desk I wanted because I couldn't convince myself it was worth the investment because I grew up as one of those latch-key street urchins and never got new stuff.
