I really think it's because it's kitten season. My feral toms have been going AWOL for several days, then showing up hungry. Just that time of year. Merlin knows where the good food is when he wants it. But, yes, it worries me too when they don't show up.

Is he intact or neutered? I take care of a feral colony (9 kitties inside and 11 outside for about 15 years now). It is very concerning when they start disappearing like that. I have neutered all cats in the colony. That definitely helps, though some still insist on being travelers and go on trips that can last days. Before I got them all neutered some of the older males eventually suffered bad injuries at the claws of the younger toms in the neighborhood or they would go very far to look for females. I know they can get killed that way and it is always pain and tears when they don't come back for days. Unfortunately, I also have some neighbors that have shot them with pellet guns. One of them had over 5 pellets in his little body. I hope Merlin calms down and doesn't go on more risky trips.💖

Now I am in tears! Maybe there really is something magical about him.😺

My former feral has taken many side trips, some as long as three months. Then one day he just shows up at the door and walks back in like the badass he is.

Glad to see his back. We care about our animals even when “technically” they are not ours. We have a couple here that ocassionly visit I don’t think they feral but we do worry when we don’t see them. We call the ginger one Gary and the black and white is Nigel 😸😸😸
