Senator Shettima, who was received on arrival at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, Ado-Ekiti, by the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, and other top state officials, is billed to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ekiti Knowledge Zone (EKZ). He will also commission the newly built Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) along Old Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti. The Vice President will further commission the newly constructed 1.2-kilometre Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Flyover at Okeyinmi, Ado-Ekiti, one of the legacy projects of the Oyebanji administration. PROTESTERS STORM OJA OBA, ADO-EKITI, DEMAND REDUCTION IN TAXES. Traders and some residents of Ado Ekiti today staged a protest at Oja Oba market in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, appealing to the state government to reduce taxes and levies imposed on businesses. The protesters, who trooped to the popular market with their chants complained that the current tax burden was making it difficult for them to sustain their businesses and meet daily needs. The protesters also stated that the high taxes have forced many of them to consider shutting down their businesses. Some of the protesters noted that the increase in levies and daily dues has eaten deep into their profits, leaving them with little to reinvest in their goods. They appealed to the Ekiti State Government to engage market leaders and stakeholders in dialogue to find a more sustainable solution that won’t cripple commerce in the state.
