So when the Spanish witnessed these “advanced” Indian societies rip the beating hearts out of dozens of children at a time and then ritualistically consume their bodies, you expected them to come away with the conclusion that these cannibal butchers were civilized?

Yes. Uncivilized. -no written language -literally still in the stone-age -no metallurgy -no domesticated labor animals -no rule of law -practiced human sacrifice, child sacrifice -regularly practiced cannibalism -primitive farming techniques

Corrrct uncivilized, inbred and cruel. Growing potatoes doesn't make one civilized. Stealing people's kids and burning them alive does make one uncivilized.

You mean an advanced civilization without the wheel or writing was capable of terrace farming and building structures from rock?!? If only the Spanish hadn’t colonized S. America, they’d have made it to the moon in another 10,000 years.

Spaniards crossed Atlantic Ocean and were awestruck by potato, corn, primitive agriculture, and human sacrifice? This is 1500 Spain.

They didn't say "uncivilized" they asked their neighbours, all of whom had been killed or enslaved, if they were good neighbours. The assessment was unanimous: complete barbarians.

Imagine being retarded enough to think a 2 feet elevation would indicate a change so significant in climate, that you have to discover what would grow, and what wouldn’t. That’s galaxy brained retardation.

Every victimized group is kind of like Schrodinger's feminist: both superior to Europeans in all ways, including intellect and technology, but also systemically oppressed and unjustly mischaracterized by their supposed inferiors.

"to grow this different type of corn, we must shed the blood of 100 females not 100 males, 100 males is for maize"

When speaking of “uncivilized” people, the Spanish were specifically speaking of pagan traditions. The revisionists today paint a pretty picture, but many of the early civilizations were often brutal and cruel. Besides sacrifices they tortured their enemies and beheaded them. There was also a cast system and yes there was a slave class, so 🤷‍♀️. Technologically, they mastered architectural and engineering feats. Very impressive.

Did she really just say that a few foot elevation will change what type of corn will grow? Come on now, don't be stupid.

Yes they were indeed uncivilised because they literally SACRIFICED CHILDREN. Hope this clears things up.

It was the child torture and slavery which upset our heroic ancestors, not their agricultural practices. Cortes was a hero who liberated the Mestizo people from an evil government. You should publicly apologize for you shitty attitude.

The Spanish saw it and said exquisite but you have to stop sacrificing people for your demon gods.

I think they were considered uncivilized due to the human sacrifices they were doing at the time.

They didn't have inquisition and burning of witches who were teens sometimes. But Europeans were civilized and Aztecs and Incas were not. Ok!

Eddie Starrett's profile picture

No one. Not one person thinks the Inca were uncivilized. Many of us think they were backwards, superstitious savages that practiced ritual sacrifice. Civilization doesn't stop savagery.
