Premiums have skyrocketed since 2014: 24-60% in 2014, 2-5% in 2015, 7-10% in 2016, 20-25% in 2017, 15-18% in 2018, 5-10% in 2019, 2-4% in 2020, 3-5% in 2021, 1-3% in 2022, 4-6% in 2023, 6-7% in 2024, and a projected 7% in 2025. Middle-class families face $100+ monthly hikes, leaving 160,000 Oregonians uninsured—yet these folks still pay taxes to fund free care for others via OHP Bridge. I'm currently single and retired. If all the credits go away for 2026, this will wipe me out, and I will likely go without insurance, even though I know that's not a good idea.' There are so many seniors who will be in this position.

HB 4145 would force Oregonians to apply for a permit just to purchase a firearm — wait up to 60 days, pay a $150 fee, complete a state-mandated “education class” that doesn’t even exist yet, and then — if approved — go through the regular background check system. That’s not public safety. That’s a barrier for so many Oregonians!!! This bill prices working families — especially women — out of their Second Amendment rights and turns a constitutional freedom into a pay-to-play privilege. I will not roll over and accept that. And I know many of you won’t either. Keep fighting, Oregon 2A community. We’re not going anywhere.
